Just installed my tranny brace
 

Hey guys, I just installed this. Got it from A-Spec. It really makes the transmission feel solid. I don't miss third anymore. Here's some pics:

Yeah, I got mine from them a few weeks ago, they go for $125 shipped, as far as noise I put some rubber washers between it and the car and it's not bad.

Exactly how can I get a hold of them as well...I'm interested in one of these .

I got this exact same brace on one of my FD's and i love it.. shifts feel "crisper" and everything feels solid there now.

is this tranny brace the same thing as a torque brace if not whats the difference

So could you combine the aspec brace and the diff brace that rx7store sells? Use both of them? If not, which one is better?

ooohh i like.... id put some rubber in w/ any brace that i installed on my car.... dont want any extra vibrations if they can be avoided. there are tons of braces for the fd... id like to get all of them hehe but im wondering at what point it becomes silly.... also would there be any down side to having everything braced? when i go in my driveway, i can hear the car creek.... and when i have one side jacked up on stands its hard to open the doors.... the car seems to have quite alot of play.... but would it be wise to get rid of ALL of it???

i have an engine brace and a diff brace on my car....everything feels rock solid and there is little to NO movement in the shifter in loading and unloading events...very solid.....i would imagine combining these with the tranny brace would just be overkill...... http://www.rankmyride.com/data//1/6/...icture_004.jpg

Can I get one of these from Rx7 Store? I have the ETB, and rear diff brace, but why not add the tranny brace too?? :)

I think I just answered my own question. I thought that the two braces installed in the same location on the ppf, but now I see that the aspec installs on the front (tranny) side of the ppf and keith's brace installs on the rear (diff) side of the ppf. So you could use both of them. I am not sure if it is overkill though, but with urethane motor mounts, engine brace, tranny brace, and diff brace, can you imagine how stiff your drivetrain would be? Might be worth the extra weight.

So can you notice more vibration at all? I would like this, but not if it adds ANY vibration.

I dont have one but it has to add vibration. I wouldnt waste your time with a transmission brace. Engine tq braces are nice and first on my list to tighten things up and help with not missing gears while making motor mounts last longer but they are not even needed at all. the differential brace is only for if you get bad wheelhop

these things should come way down the road in your modding trail

There is minimal vibration transfered to the car, it makes a big difference in driveline slop and takes stress off of the PPF, I wouldn't say this is something you need to do down the road, you want your car to feel nice and crisp, this is a good way to go as far as added weight it's less than a pound difference from the piece it replaces. The diff brace also keeps the driveline more solid and will help keep the PPF from cracking which does happen even on unmodded cars.

boostcrzy: did you make or buy the torque brace? i want one :biggrin: ...looks like it wouldnt be as harsh as some of the solid braces out there... and combined w/ the tranny brace would work just as well.

i got one of a-spec tuning's trans brace and i added rubber O rings and the vibration is NOT noticeable. i can feel the drivetrain alot more solid now. :) I wonder why mazda didn't think of this before.:confused:

I have a transmission brace made by Dragon from Japan if anyone is interested. The trany brace will really help if You dont have the engine torque brace. It adds vibration if You dont use some rubber but tightens the car. I also am overbraced and am just going to run with the engine brace and the rear diff brace

Boostcrzy, did you make that engine brace yourself or purchase it? If purchased, from where?

I'm not quite understanding what you mean by overbraced?
