Just installed Fighters Air Intake, now BOV questions...

Hi guys!

Yesterday, I installed the Fighters Garage Air Intake and man, it's awesome! Very good quality product.

Anyway, after removing the stock airbox, I have no place for my BOV's to vent. Right now, they're just open venting, with no hose on them at all. Is that bad? If so, what should I do? If not, boy they're loud. How do I quiet them down? I don't necessarily like the purging sounds really loud. A little is ok...

Thanks for opinions and helping out!!!

I need to change my sig now too...

They should not suck in air, but if you are worried you can install small k&n filters. Any intake is going to make the car louder, especially an open one. You could try installing a lawnmover muffler on the end of the hose as some people do with the airpump.

I understand the car is going to be louder because of the open air intake, but I'm strictly talking about the BOV's noise and the venting portion.

This is something you should have considered before buying an open intake.

That was helpful... Thank you for that...

I did consider this, I knew it was going to be louder. My question is if it's ok for the BOV's to be open vented or should I do something about it? That's all. And maybe someone has some helpful advice on how to quiet them down, that's all.

its fine to open vent your BOV's
If you want to quiet them a little, put a 90 degree hose on the outlets

makes a noticeable difference

Thank you very much!!! I think I'll get some hose and do just that...

Home depot should have some pvc 90's you can use. Routing the hoses down will definately help.

Go to NAPA or AutoZone and ask to browse their pre-formed coolant hoses. I grabbed a long one with several bends to do some various tubing. Take the BOV off and take it in the store with you to get the correct/useable hose diameter.

I've running running an open BOV for a while now. For a while I had it with nothing past the BOV itself, but I noticed the hot air it dumped was tearing up the insulation on my hood (Even at idle my BOV is blowing hot air). I got about 3' of heater hose and routed it out the front of the car near the radiator, all the hot air stays out. Only problem now is everyone can hear my BOV, you know how that kind of attention goes...
