I trust Bi-State and Eric. They are taking a big leap right now with their turbo business. I know that everything they do will be perfect no matter what. And, if it isnt perfect they will make it perfect. The goal of this company right now is to make a name for themselves among the best. You can guarentee they will try as hard as they can to please the customer.

Not sure if you care, but your credibility just took a nosedive with me. Most of us grew out of the "you're a douche bag and an idiot" stage sometime before we graduated from high school. I'm kind of at a loss for what prompted your outburst.

take it easy--

thanks for the compliments...i appreciate the maturity of your response. I never knew Belligerence and Bliss could go hand in hand with Ignorance.

When resource can back up his big talk about his turbos competing with BNRS or M2S then he will get more respect from the market...tis not just me...people have been hearing claims from upgraded turbo builders for years and thus far only bnr and m2 have come thru. Right now We heard the sales pitch...we all want to see the results.

I complimented his shop for warranteeing their work..of which similar shops I have dealt with did not...i commended him for that...after all we all know these stock twins are almost impossible to deal with...tis why most turbo builders cringe at the thought of them...i bet four out of ten rebuilds coming out of the different shops around the country fail within a few thousand miles. If you dealt with turbo city in the past you would have found eight out of ten go bad. a good warrantee is almost impossible to get...so resource..congrats. your customers will appreciate it Im sure.

and just so ya know..ive begun talks with resource in regards to his assistance in purchasing and fabricating thousands of dollars worth of parts for a wrx being built by myself and a friend. If you are a good example of his friends and the people I will be dealing with perhaps I should just go elsewhere.

cheers

Serioulsy now.... People calm the frick down. It's sunday, the lords day. Be nice!

Hmm... what does it mean if today when I woke up, I look underneath and see oil coming from the turbos???

There are afew little oil spots on the ground, and last night. I was breaking in my engine and wanted to see if they even worked so I gave it a little boost in 4th gear at 3,500 rpms and it would only boost to .2 psi.

Could the turbos be bad??? I'm posotive all the vaccume lines are correct. And oh, if I let the car idle for about 5 minutes, it will start to spit a plume of blue smoke out the exaust. I havent even started the car up yet because I want to see whats going on.

And Eric, Im still waiting on this warantee man... Im starting to get worried about this. REALLY

Im assuming its not good for the engine to drive with turbos that are not functioning properly.

spoolage 06-28-03 10:57 AM

Eric, please call my cell when you read this. 832 326 4922...

Where is the oil coming from? Are you sure that the oil feed and return banjo bolts are nice and secure and have 2 washers per? Just trying to figure out why they would leak.

spoolage 06-28-03 11:16 AM

Not coming from the oil lines. Its coming from the turbo housings. Yea the banjo bolts are good and tight the shop that I took my car to was worked on buy a guy who really knows his stuff when it comes to 7's. Everything else is good, except these turbos. I just let the car warm for 10 minutes and smoke just keeps pouring out.

Snook 06-28-03 12:27 PM

spoolage I just read all of this thread and I don't think it's fair that you complained about the crack and then wouldn't even take a picture of it to back it up. You created a lot of uncertainty that didn't need to be there.
Was it really there? Is bistate customs bad? If your turbos go bad in a year is that the reason?? You know what a mean???

I'm definetaly on the customers side since that's what I am but I see how Resource is getting really frustrated.
It's so weird how everything gets out of control on the forum so fast about a business and customers when there is a little question in the transaction.

I hope that there isn't anything wrong with the turbos and that it's something simple so you don't have to send them back because the company will look bad and you will be without a car for even longer.

Did you get the warranty papers yet? You and resource just have to call each other it's real simple.

If you have any other questions I hope to catch you on aim sometime. Sorry it's nothing against you just how I feel. Get that car up and running and the water and boost gauges just to make sure you keep the engine healthy.

spoolage 06-28-03 12:57 PM

Thx snook, yes there was a crack inside. I was going to get a picture but ended up not worrying about it and not wanting to make a big deal out of it, I decided I'd trust Eric when he told me they were fine.

Thats why I'm just a little troubled by the oil coming from them. I cant really test if they are making full boost because I'm still breaking my engine in and only have 500 miles on the engine but they shouldnt be leaking oil should they??? This is a pretty heavy leak too. The smoke coming from the exaust is worse than the turbos I had previously and those had 95,800 miles on them.

spoolage 06-28-03 01:39 PM

 i just want my car to work correctly damnit

7racer 06-28-03 01:42 PM

spoolage,

sorry to hear about the troubles...

can you post pics of where you see the oil coming from?

spoolage 06-28-03 01:56 PM

my friend has work till 9 I'll see if I can though.

spoolage 06-28-03 02:03 PM

I remember, when I'd first gotten the turbos. I turned one of the compressor wheels afew times jsut to see how freely the spun, and I remember hearing a metal on metal noise. Every rotation I would hear it, like the wheel was touching metal somwhere... I didnt think anything of it.

could my problem be that the turbos are seizing up???

kwikrx7 06-28-03 03:02 PM

If you take a flashlight and shine it down into the turbos while your car is idling, you can see if the primary turbo is spinning - it's tougher to see the secondary under the car (easier with a lift) --both should be whirring away. Whn my primary stock turbo went bad the turbo wasn't even spinning at idle unless you revved it - the it would stop at idle. Any kind of friction is not good. Even when I sent my turbos to BNR the first time there was some friction and I couldn't get them to spool past 10 psi. Sent the turbos back to Bryan and he gladly fixed them - now they run awesome and don't smoke or leak at all. That's the only problem with rebuilds and upgraded twins, if there is a problem, it costs a lot of money for labor to hve them ripped out and sent back. Single turbos are an easy fix but are also expensive. They shouldn't be leaking or smoking - send them back and see if he honors his warranty - especially if he said "they are fine"

spoolage 06-28-03 09:13 PM

Today the boost gauge is reading .5 bars, so the turbos are boosting now which is good. But they are still leaking oil, so I would still like to replace them. They shouldnt be leaking w/ only 750 miles on them.

I took off the turbo inlet elbow today and was looking at the compressor wheel and it wasnt spinning at idle... I gave a little tug on the TB and the wheel started to spin, right when I let go of the tb the fan stopped spinning and poof, smoke out the exaust. Also, I felt the compressor wheel and it wiggled about a mm. Is this bad shaftplay???

I'm gona send the turbos out as soon as I get the papers for the warantee...

EpitrochoidMan 06-28-03 09:34 PM

Jeez, I just got through reading this whole thread and it had to believe anything useful ever gets said on the forum.

Here's how it should go:

1) As a customer who spent alot of money on a product, you are more likely to look very hard at it and find problems that might just be negligable or sometimes non-existant (although this doesn't seem to be the case in this particular instance).

2) As a business owner you should be able to look at the product in question and make an informed call about the actual condition of the product. Sometimes things just get missed no matter how careful you are.

So.. As soon as there was a possible problem with the turbos they should have been sent back to Resource. Resource should not have been as defensive (possibly attacking) in his responses to criticism; A simple "We will be happy to inspect the problem and if we find a defect, we will make it right. We are very meticulous in our work and take pride in our quality products." would have sufficed

Had Resource posted this and not gotten into a bickering match I think I would have more respect for the company. Although, he does seem very easy to deal with and more than willing to fix the problem.

spoolage 06-28-03 09:57 PM

Eric is a good guy, he called me over the phone and asked me if I wanted to send my turbos back for a new set. I told him that I'd see how these ones run, maybe I was being overly critical. I told him I'd go ahed and just use these ones and hope the little squeaking (metal on metal noise) i was hearing would go away once pressurized oil was pumped through the turbos. I dont konw if thats gone or not because I cant hear it but the turbos are leaking now so thats uh, still no good. So I figure, hey I have this 1 year 15,000 mile warantee that Eric told me I have so its all good. I'm really not mad at all, thats why there are warantee's =)

artguy 06-30-03 12:52 AM

you should not have any leaks....i had that same prob with my turbo city set (assuming you are not having problems with the lines)...i had bad seals....had to be rebuilt again.

warrantees are great...too bad they dont pay for the downtime or the labor....which comes back to what I was saying in the beginning...turbos for the fd are tough to deal with...there are only a couple companies having great success doing so and for the most part they are slightly more expensive...bnr..TEC..m2....

I hope you get it figured out...

good luck

jason

I really dont mind the down time. I have an 87 mercedeze benz turbo deisel with about 600,000 miles that I put around in. I'll just try to contact Bi-state tomorrow and see if I have any luck. Im really worried though that I havent received the papers for the warantee. I'm sure Eric will honor what he told me over the phone and pm'ed me over the past month. No worries on my part as long as they fullfill the agreement.
