he's using the stock injectors which is pretty damn risky for anything above 280rwhp imho.
I'm sorry, but I would have to disagree on this one. Even if you are going by the 85% duty cycle rule, the car can make 305rwhp at 85% duty cycle of the PRIMARY injectors. safe and risky are relative terms, but a car with stock injectors can make well over 300rwhp safely IMHO.

Nice numbers your car pulled on the dyno.

His torque seems pretty good. I pulled 302 RWHP @ 11.5 psi and my torque was 243 (look at sig).

I was using my stock injectors and I was running @ 12.5 psi, which was still safe for my car. I didn't run more than 13psi, because I didn't want to take the chance with the injectors and I was using the stock ic at the time.

yeah i know, in fact i've seen cars make over 320 to the wheels w/ stock injectors. but tell that to my car sitting at the shop undergoing a $5,000 rebuild due to leaning out. broke an apex seal and scored both rotor housings at both spark plug holes. can never be too safe.

Personnaly I have a Super AFC and I had to lower my injector duty cycle about 10% all the way across the rpm range just to get to about 10.5:1 afr, the lower limits of the afr gauge. Eventually I went as low as -15% to get to about 11:1 afr. I did pick up a bit of hp but not that much.

On another note, I would like to see his afr :)

i don't know what your mods are, but i find it nearly impossible that w/ the loss of all the restrictions this guy has, that he would be running rich. then on top of that how can he lean it out even more for an additional 50hp. no fucking way.

Yeah, but he's supposedly only hitting 8.5 psi. I'm not sure how that's possible with those mods but....

Check out Wade Langham's site, he wideband dyno-ed a car with all the bolt-ons and stock ecu at 10 psi, the A/F was still low 11:1. At 8.5 psi, I'd imagine he's not running lean, even with just the stock ecu.

Anyways, many weird things about the whole tale.

Yeah, I posted that before I saw his mods, so I didn't see the midpipe. I would expect a lower torque/hp ratio with a midpipe.

My recent dyno showed 226 ft-lbs with 240 rwhp. Of course, I did have only 7 psi at 6500 rpm, so the hp should have been higher. So...I'll shut up now. :)

Snook 08-28-02 09:08 PM

I agree that you can run 12 psi on the stock fuel pump and injectors I think that is almost a fact for the fd especially on a port that is very normal.
If you replace the fuel pump then you can run higher boost so the injectors aren't holding anything back.

fdracer: Maybe your injectors were clogged? Fuel filter? maybe you were getting high boost at night in cold temperature or something. There could be tons of reasons why you need a rebuild and were running lean.

RexTech 08-28-02 10:50 PM

Stop blaming the kid, letīs wait for the results, maybe he don{t know too much about mechanics or mods.

BTW who said that more than 238RWHP is very risky? and WHY?

Yenven 08-28-02 11:11 PM

Im sure he means he has a Hi flow cat.If its the same car im thinking of 93 silver on red,Its a custom made cat useing a 3" catco.

forcefed1 08-29-02 07:32 AM

I can't believe you guys are jumping all over this guy without letting him respond with a dyno sheet.

sanfordman 08-29-02 01:48 PM

Let me go scan my dyno sheet, I have a 255 horsepower run on the sheet where I was not running with the AFC tuned, then you will notice the largfe horsepower gain upon completion of tuning the safc. So in all reality, I guess that pretty little blue screen did give me 50 horses-The sheet will be on the internet soon (freind has scanner and he is not in dorm now). And I used a dynopak dynometer. And about the MP and cat-I took it to a shop which is owned by a guy who has raced rotary for 20 some odd years and he custom welds and fabricates his own exhaust peices, basically I have a 3 inch exhaust all the way up to the turbos.

sanfordman 08-29-02 01:51 PM

^yenven knows who I am talking about and my car I think is the silver and red one you are talking about

dubulup 08-29-02 02:14 PM

Cool, geez

sanfordman 08-29-02 02:33 PM

sanfordman 08-29-02 02:40 PM

here it is fella's

sanfordman 08-29-02 02:41 PM

The 2 runs were I had only about 250 were without the safc, the other runs were with it

matty 08-29-02 02:48 PM

looks like you made the runs in 3rd gear

sanfordman 08-29-02 02:52 PM

yeah, it was either 3rd or 5th gear, I didnt run it and my eyes were glued to the screen so I wasnt paying attention

fdracer 08-29-02 03:04 PM

what'd you do w/ the safc to do that? did you lean it out?

RX7Elmo 08-29-02 03:11 PM

that is one pretty crazy dip at 5700rpm or so in the w/o afc dyno curve. And is just as crazy how much power dropped off after 6000 w/o the afc as well.

I"m still very curious as to on the 300rwhp run, what PSI was the car at that point?? And are you seq or non seq? looks like a non-seq to me.

Because your original post said something like 8.5psi. And 8.5 psi is still VERY impressive for 300rwhp. Or am the only one impressed?

Danny

RX7Elmo 08-29-02 03:11 PM

oh yeah.....a/f ratios??

sanfordman 08-29-02 03:23 PM

I was running around 8 psi, I am still sequential, dont know the A/F ratios, but I do know I was running really rich so we leaned it out a little and got 50 RWHP out of it-go figure (works for me though)

DK 08-29-02 03:40 PM

Where was this I ask again?

fdracer 08-29-02 03:52 PM

how is it possible you were rich w/ all your mods. i've never seen this. you should be lean if anything. let alone be rich to the point where you can lean it out for 50 more hp.

RX7Elmo 08-29-02 04:38 PM

yeah, i still don't get it. But he IS only running 8psi, so we can all agree the stock ECU can hold the bolt ons with 10psi, but he's running 8PSI! gosh-darn, he's running 8psi with bolt ons and is getting 300rwhp. I'm jealous.

Danny
