GoodfellaFD3S 08-28-02 03:06 PM

Just bought a pair of Fikse FM5 Rims

I couldn't believe the buy it now price when I saw these on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1854894240

I really had no concrete plans to buy rims. I've always loved these rims and called Fikse to see about pricing--each rear (in 17x10) is $949 each

Here's a pic of them in 18 inch size on a Porsche for those unfamiliar with the rims:

http://ebay0.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_...eea63a/i-1.JPG

and

http://ebay0.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_...eea63a/i-2.JPG

I just can't pass up a good deal so I jumped on them--now to sell my organs to afford the fronts :D

RX7Elmo 08-28-02 03:09 PM

i know! ideas on how much 17x9s will cost for the fronts?? it would probally be something like 600 each per wheel

Jedon 08-28-02 03:13 PM

I have those in 17x10 rear, 17x8.5 front.

Thanks, Ed. I actually thought back to a few weeks ago when I was in your garage admiring your R1 (to include your rims) and remembered how sweet they look on an FD. That's that pushed me to click the mouse ;)

I don't suppose you have an extra pair of 17x8.5s laying around, do ya :D?

You can pick up alot of deals like that on just two rims, then you buy two more and you save yourself some money...

vosko 08-28-02 08:32 PM

That is why you and I have nothing in common ;)

And if you think 750 bucks is too much for a pair of quality rims and tires for your 400+ hp FD, then you should look into purchasing a Kia Sephia to mod

Flybye 08-28-02 08:45 PM

I find it hiliarious that someone would say they would never pay $750 for 2 Fikse wheels.

 :hahaha:  :hahaha:

Yes, what is that indeed? You're *already* leaking oil?

Is that a special Jspec Tilt Steering Wheel? Because that prodigious belly of yours has forced you to ride shotgun in the past :D

Seriously Jon, you got a very nice deal on those rims. I'm not a fan of the style, but if you like them then that's all that matters. Now go hit the treadmill so I'll have less ammunition during these little Zinger fests we have
:p:

When have we ever been at the strip at the same time? I could say I can roadrace better than you (and I think I can) but I haven't because I'd be talking out of my ass, something you obviously don't have a problem with.

And the last time you brought this up, I invited you to speak with me about it in person at MADs. Surprise, surprise, you never said a word :)

GsrSol 08-29-02 01:06 PM

That's a real good deal rich, like less then half price. Glad you got them, now go sell your organs :)

cabaynes 08-29-02 01:11 PM

vosko, you need to chill man, when you said you would never pay $750 for two rims, that was a pretty ignorant if you actually read the original post. He obviously really wanted these wheels and so what if he spends that much on wheels? dont hate and post useless opinions just cause you cant afford brand name rims  "there are only 3 sets of my rims... blahblahblah" yea and by looking at them i can see why... eww man, who would buy those things? now stop acting like youre my age and grow up;)

oh and, great Fikse rims btw, i like!

hmmm, obviously you don't know much about vosko and his car. I highly doubt he can't afford to pay for brand name rims, go check out the NE section and look at how much he has spent on his car.

black99 08-29-02 01:21 PM

Are you guys done bickering over rims yet??? lol

stokedxiv: Vosko's "one of 3 sets" wheels are Racing Beat wheels... IMO those are brand name...

i was afraid this would happen... when i posted my thread i re-read it and then i went and edited it again... for everyones info i was joking around but after i read my original i knew that it may not come off that way so i went back and addes a few more smileys and things... i know how much vosko has spent and its more than what i could afford i was just givin him a hard time, thats all... cause personally i really love those Fikse rims:D

sorry for the confusion... must not be able to express sarcasm very well online i guess:(

i'm an ok road racer. i sort of know how to take turns but i've only done it once. drag racing on the other hand...... :boink:

vosko 08-29-02 01:54 PM

those fikse rims are nice but i just don't want them. its not even an issue of affording. i could buy volk TE37 Magnesium's if i felt like but i don't want them. anyone can do with their car, money, etc whatever they want. it doesn't affect me :)

my rims are 3 piece racing hart tracer type c's custom made for racing beat. anyway. i posted just to break rich's balls :)

Johnsrx7 08-29-02 02:09 PM

Nice rims, now contact Rishie to get the fronts.

how much do those Fikse wheels weigh....?

I just spoke with a very helpful employee at Fikse.

FM5s/FM10s:

17x8.5: 19.2/17.3 lbs
17x10: 20.1/18.1 lbs

Pretty damn light. When I told him how light our stock FD rims are, the guy was very impressed :).

Tim Benton 08-30-02 12:55 PM

Rich,

Are the 17x8.5 (front) 19.2 lbs each or 17.3 lbs each?
Same question with the rear.

BTW, sorry I didn't to make it out to the Atlanta meet when you were in the area. Maybe next time since you seem to float around, base to base.

Tim

Hi Tim,

FM5s and FM10s are two different styles of fikse rims. go to fikse.com to check them out.

no problem about the atlanta meet--I didn't make it either :)

Rich

JspecFD 08-30-02 01:26 PM

Tim: Look at Rich's post again and note that he is giving the weights for the FM5s and the FM10s. The former is 19.2 lbs while the latter is 17.3 lbs in 17x8.5 sizing.

I thought it interesting that the FM10s is about the same weight as the stock 17x8.5 wheels. Figured they'd be a little lighter.
