Interior light replacement

I've had the fancy to replace the standard bulbs in the car with LED's. If that's not enough illumination there are always colored bulbs. Anyway, having a glowing-red interior for a silver, white, black, or red Rx-7 would look pretty slick. I happen to be dealing with Montego Blue, though, and I'm wondering how you think it would look. Obviously red prevents night-blindness so it's the best choice, but amber might look pretty good.

Has anybody tried something this silly before? (other than Audi) I'm wondering how it would look. Thanks.

I replaced the two dome lights on my car with red blubs. I thought they would be cheap and fade to pink but they have held up good. It has a nice red glow to the interior. The red really does prevent night-blindness like you said, eventhough somethings are hard to see. I have a white FD so I give it the thumbs up. I dont know about what color would look good with the montego blue.

That would be the Piaa Extreme Wedge Model H-222E. They are listed as "Extreme White Bulb." They were about $15-17 shipped.

Just to keep things clear, that japanese web page shows how the owner wired in 6 super white colored leds into the lamp system. If you look at the second page it shows how he even aded 2 lamps where the touring model sunroof switch goes. Very nice. Anyone know of a part # or source for those superwhite leds?

Just order the 4 led bulbs from:

www.terrshop.com

They are a direct replacement and should provide you with all the lighting you would want. They only come in 2 colors blue and super white. Just look under the auto part section. Plus they are pretty inexpensive.

Thanks for the info. In the night, when the lights are at all noticeable, the car doesn't look much different than black, so I'm guessing the red lights would look fine.

I'm still kind of married to that red LED concept, but I'll have to look into power dissipation vs. illumination, etc. I can get boxes of LEDs for the price of those lights. It wouldn't be difficult to solder the LED leads into the base of the factory bulb and then just screw it in.

Thanks again.

P.S. don't forget to get your Rotary Air freshener at terrshop.com!
