With with a larger SMIC like this:

http://www.rx7store.net/ASP_Intercooler_s/219.htm

and the answer will be no.

intercooler question

i wanna go front mount, and are the 12-1,500$ intercoolers worth the money, or are they just the name that sells. just curious because a lot of online stores claim that there's are just as competitive at half the price.

go with the one he showed from rx7store or a pettit coolcharge
less length for the air to go, less bends... unless you want that sweet look of a big metal tank in your front bumper.

If you're set on a front mount, look into the Apexi one from rx7store. I have it, and was able to keep my AC. You just gotta be careful of what kinda intake you get. It sits behind the bumper rebar, so no cutting of the bumper but that means a little less room in the engine bay.

Here's the link: http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/apexiintercooler.htm

with the type m the ac bracket gets disassembled and the ac compressor gets moved forward to fit the radiator

most intercooler kits require the ac to be moved slightly. few require elimination. wherever your ordering the kit from should tell you either way

i did a custom front mount setup on mine and i didnt have to move the radiator, or the a/c, though i did have to cut a metal cross section out just under the hood latch. This allowed my piping to be very short.

Keep in mind that with a large FMIC, there is reduced airflow into the engine bay. This has an effect on cooling temps as well as your A/C quality. If you want to retain your A/C quality, look at a larger SMIC.

^What he said. A/C suffers, radiator temps suffer etc.

Pettit has some good SMICs so does ASP.
Pettit's here: http://pettitracing.com/rx7/index_turbo.htm
The ASP kits seem to be on backorder according to the manufacturer: http://2dperformance.com/intercooler.asp

Rotary Performance also have a selection of SMIC and FMIC here: http://rx7.com/store/rx7/fdintercooler.html
They usually have everything in stock.

I'd suggest you search for the thread in the archives on the relative pros and cons of SMIC vs FMIC before making your decision. It gets hot up in Sac and other areas around here.

FMIC is front mount, it's big and blocks a lot of the airflow to the engine bay and radiator. small mount is much smaller and doesn't block as much.

There is no such thing as a "small mount". There are 3 options for this car. Front Mount, Stock Mount and V-Mount.

All of these are clearly laid out with pictures as well as descriptions all over parts websites and these forums.

Stock Mounts, SMICs - Intercoolers which sit in the stock location, behind the radiator, at the top of the engine bay.
Front Mounts, FMICs - Intercoolers which sit in front of the front crossbar, just behind the front bumper skin.
V-Mounts, VMICs - Intercooler/radiator combinations which create the shape of a carrot > into the engine bay. The intercooler is in the stock location, but laying nearly flat instead of being at a steep incline, the radiator is mounted below the intercooler, just above the undertray approximately as a mirror image to the IC's position.
