Question intercooler question

Hi folks i just want to know if there is a company that makes cheap intercooler kit but that still carries better quality then the stock ones. It seems like intercoolers are just too much money for me right now and on the reliability lists i found out that getting a aftermarket or a better intercooler is a must. So if there isnt such a thing please dont flame me but if there is a intercooler out there for people on the budget please give me some info. Any other additonal input would be greatful
Thnx

There is no "cheap" IC kit because the components needed to build and assemble one aren't cheap.

As stated, your best bet would be to browse the used parts for sale forum.

I would make my own... that's very cheap... I bought a used truck intercooler -it was very big... cut it in two and put the other part behind the first part weld it together
(or find someone that can weld aluminium) the pricetag for eveything to this date is 250$, so it wasn't bad...
It sould also be sufficent for about 400-500hp so I'm in the clear... ;D

You don't need an upgraded intercooler to run 10 psi. Just keep your boost at 10 psi until you can afford an upgrade. And certainly shop the classifieds, most used intercoolers are in fine shape and will be much less than new ones.

I think the stock IC sucks no matter what the the psi. GReddy and Blitz make some stock replacments that are thicker and will do a better job of cooling. SR MotorSport also makes a stock location custom IC. I think around $800 not sure.

For street driving, the stock IC is perfectly adequate at 10 psi. I seriously doubt the smaller IC upgrades will make much of a difference in that situation. I noticed a roughly 1 psi increase with the PFS SMIC, which is bigger than the Greddy or Blitz.

The guy is under a budget crunch, there is no reason for him to feel he HAS to spend money on an intercooler right now.
