I don't quite understand the values in the Load column (0, 25, 50, 75 etc) and how they are related to the actual PSI (or bar) values?

imitek 10-16-15 05:57 PM

Its kpa 250kpa

cant the tuner do all that? I would imagine they would adjust the timing anyway as part of their tuning

The guys at HP Academy have a very nice webinar video specifically about tuning rotary ignition timing using FD3S on a dyno. Their site isn't free, you would need to sign up to be able to view the video. They demonstrate how to dial in timing at part throttle and full throttle, as well as the effects of leading vs trailing timing. The video shows live screen captures of their ECU software as well as the dyno charts, it's pretty nice.

Very nice thank you
Im on it

Timing is pretty low in vacuum cruising areas. Your 50kpa and lower rows could easily have another 10 degrees. I don't know what your fuel octane is (or what turbo you have) but if it's good enough your higher boost area (200+ kpa) should be able to handle more timing than that at higher rpm, but only a dyno will be able to tell you if it's beneficial.

Those don't look like Mazda coils. are the dwell tables appropriate for the coils? How is it set to control spark? Is it wasted spark on the leading and individual control on the trailing, like stock? Or something else? You can burn up the coil by charging it too much with incorrect dwell.

Base dwell is set to 3.0 as aem state
Also set in single fire mode
Only 1 coil is dead other 3 are fine

just for discussion sake can you post the dwell table?

when you say you are hitting 1.5 bar, are you in the 250kpa load row or the 150?

250kpa im hitting

150 is 0.5 bar isnt it ?

Also did u get a chance to look at the dwell table ? Thanks

arghx 12-05-15 09:56 AM

ok, wasn't sure if you meant absolute or relative pressure. Looking at the table, I think you need to try and add more around 6000rpm and later, but only on a dyno.

This was my plan i wanted it little closer just wanted to be sure i was not to advanced was all thats my main load point between 5k and 8k
