I was 19 when I bought mine in Sept 01. I had my heart set on an MR2 turbo, but when my FD popped up at a dealership that I had worked at, I knew I had to have it. They let it go for essentially what they paid for it on trade in, which was 8000. I put up 6000 in cash and financed the rest on a 0% intro credit card. FYI, I just pulled the car out of extended hiatus last Monday. I've spent the last 5 years working on it off and on, replacing practically everything. Runs like a champ now.

I got no respect for that. I dreamed of getting one when I was 16. I worked my ass off and bought a mint Touring one cash for $26,000 when I was 22 and have had it for 5 years now with over $60k invested into it now. I make plenty of dough now and the RX-7 is just a hobbie. Some rich kid says "Daddy I want, I want!, I need" and gets one bought for him on his 16th Birthday. That's gay man. you don't deserve it.

wasnt there something like 26 of these exact ones made? i know this is one of the rarest FD's on the US market.

red one - 22 yrs old, early july 2004 about 3 wks before my 23rd b-day while I was still in Iraq, first saw it in person Oct. 9th when I got home

black one - b-day present to myself when i turned 26 last year

im pretty sure the average age for an RX-7 owner is like... 23 or something...
somewhere i read its like 35 for the average RX-8 owner.

Got mine at 20 in april 06 of this year bone stock.

I picked mine up 7 years ago when I was 16.

That's sounds about right. I would imagine the average age of the RX-7 owner when it came out was 30+ as well back in 1993-95. The RX-8 owners age will drop as well to a point, depending on what people think of it's looks, mod-ability, price, etc in the next few years.

My dad bought mine in march of this year. I was 17, now 18 (as of today) $1500 and had been sitting in a backyard in Florida for 5+ years. Since we've bought the car its been sitting in that same yard waiting for me to get down there to it (which im doing this weekend). And will be moving it and myself into our new home. From there, im getting a job at a chevy dealer (dont bash to hard) and will be returning it into the life it deserves. Pretty legit.

I am proud to say that i truly do DESERVE it!!!!! I fell in love with the car when i was in 6th grade!!! Ever since then my mind has been set on getting the RX-7!!!! I always told my friends that i was gonna get a RX-7!!! Not a single person ever believed me!!! Everyone told me that there was no way that i could afford it, or even find it..... My LIFE GOAL was to get the FD when i was 16 years old for my first car!!!!! I started saving up when i was 14 and on March 18th I bought my very own FD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WITHOUT ANY HELP!!!! No help from parents, no help from anyone!! Did it all on my own!!! One of my main goals in life is now complete!!!! and if i die tomorrow, i will die in peace!!! =)

^how much did you get ur FD for? saving for only 2 years...(assuming you were allowed to work at 14) you must have had a very well paying job? either way congrats, i fell in love with the FD when i saw a CYM R1 in the 2nd grade and ever since i have wanted one. sure enough after many years of saving up i could afford it.

how i saved up?... well at 14 i didnt have a real job but i started doing litle things like, washing and cleaning out ppl's cars in the apartments where we used to live, had a bunch of pokemon and yugioh cards which i never played with so i sold them off ebay, Made over 400 for that. And then we had a garage sale and i sold all my old crap... lol everything i didnt need. So during my 14th year i made about 1G. At 15 my cousin hooked me up and i got a job at KFC. worked there for a long time and saved up all my money. And at early 16 i started working for a heating and air conditioning company which my dad owns.. $12 an hour for now....

Some of us are more fortunate then others, thats how life is, deal with it - no need to be a dick. I didnt beg for anything, he said heres $10,000 buy what car you want. Their are 1000s of other kids who got bmw's, mercedes etc for their first car, or atleast where i lived, i probably had the cheapest car at my school. Saying i dont deserve something is arrogant and spiteful, I have accomplished a lot more then most people my age, so get off my back.

Ever since I was a little kid I was obsessed with the RX-7 but until 12 or 13 years old I never knew what the hell a rotary engine was. I always though the RX-7 was a regular go fast motor. Then I saw the triangles and was like... OMG WTF?!?! Then I did research on the motor and came to the conclusion that it was the most awesomest thing EVAR!

I was 63 yrs,bought it last year.It followed a a number of 2nd gen RX7s including 3 TurboIIs,and an RX8 which I turboed---but it still was not fast enough---so I went back to the real car.What is really interesting was that I almost bought a 95 TT new in 1996 but I couldn't get the deal I wanted.

Dream car. age 21. March 2008 was the start of my long term relationship with my fd. Dont really have the funds to do what i want with it yet but one day it'll be exactly how i want it.

For the cars that were purchased @ around 8K, how was the car's shape when you first got it? Was it reliable enough to take you places and you didn't have to worry about it breaking down?
