how much money have you spent on your rx-7?
how much money have you spent on your rx-7? mods, body, rebuilds, etc etc
how many times has your engine blew? how and why? was the fd worth all of it? if you had a 16 year old son would you get him one? (93 tt fd) -thank you for your time :bigthumb: to all yall fd drivers |
$27000, car has 91k miles, it's on it's third motor
i drive it VERY hard, i didn't rebuild the motor the first time, but i'm going all out on the new motor |
This was asked recently. :)
BTW, no I wouldn't buy a car for a 16 year old son. IMO, an FD is too much car for someone that just got their driver's license. |

And no, no way I'd give an FD to a 16 y/o. Buy him an NA FC first. Let him get his feet wet and get a feel for it before ever concidering it. Kids should learn to respect the cars first. |

giving your 16 old son a sports car is asking for trouble.

thats not true, not all teen are idiots. Depending on how responsible your son is. If he is planning on doing mods to the car then thats a new ball game. I have spent about 10k so far sence Jan 2003. No money more problems. In other words there very expensive cars. Guess what my 1st car was???? hum also thats a very depressing ? that you ask(how much have you invested) makes me wont to cry. |
probably the biggest stereotype that ive ever heard is that ALL 16 year olds are shitty drivers. I am currently 3 months away from turning 16 and getting my drivers license, and ive had my FD since sept. of 2001. I have been on many FD cruises around the STL area, all involving triple digit speeds and insane twisties. I also have autocrossed a few times and have held my own pretty well. Not once have i even come close to losing control of my car. Granted my dad has always been a car freak and ive been around fast cars my whole life, but i have had many experienced drivers compliment me on my driving skills and my ability to handle an FD. Again i am only 15 right now. In my opinion, its not about the age...its all in the training and practice.

i've spent between 35-40k on my rx-7(that including the car)
replaced engine once, it was running just fine when i took it out, just had the money to get the ported motor. Every single penny, i almost think i would keep the car if it didnt even run, just for the tought that someday it would. I got mine when i was 16(18 now) so i might be a little bias but i drove a 90 Honda Accord(not riced out) and beat that to hell and always had a car to beat to the ground and treat my FD like it was a moody GF. ~Luke |

Many times before I knew what I was doing. Leaned out, improper tuning, bad gas, cracked seals. was the fd worth all of it? Without a doubt, yes :). if you had a 16 year old son would you get him one? (93 tt fd) Without a doubt, no :). -thank you for your time :bigthumb: to all yall fd drivers No Problem. |
Ditto what GoodfellaFD3S posted.

haha of course i wont let it go to my head, i know i still have maturing to do and experience to gain. Just provin a point :) As far as money goes, we bought my car for $14k with a strong rebuilt engine/turbos. So far weve put about $2k into it since just replacing things. (downpipe, hi flow cat, springs, shocks)

(93 tt fd) Wouldn't buy my 16yr old an FD or even an Hyundai. Had to buy my first car and pay for the insurance, gas, etc. I would expect the same from my son. Means that much more to you when you pay with your own money... -thank you for your time :bigthumb: to all yall fd drivers |

Problem with 16yr olds getting an fd is not there driving per se that gets them in trouble (although sometimes that is the case), its their attitude. They are so self image conscious(sp) that they will do anything to prove how badass they are to there friends and what not, and end up doing some dumb a$$ stuff to a car everybody here loves. And please save me the "dOnt be a ha8ter dawg, mY SkiLLz are the TyTest" crap, because all of us here felt the same way when we were 16 and only now realize how stupid we were.
