I'm not proud of this but I put over 100,000 miles on an 86 GXL and never changed the oil in the engine or drive train. Just kept adding a quart every other month. The motor never gave out but the clutch went out, then the tranny. It was a dd and the sun murdered the paint and interior. I take great care of my fd now thank you.

I have an FC, 241,xxx on the chassis, 30,xxx on rebuild :D

100K????? DAMN that's a lot of miles on an oil filter.....

Not that I treated my old DD much better. I honestly went 40k without an oil change. As a matter of fact, that was the last 40k I drove the car. Believe it or not, it still runs strong, just a little noisy because all of the interior panels vibrate. I only parked it because my company gave me an 08 Colorado to tear around in.

My FD has about 80k on the clock, currently down for a rebuild. If I could stop buying go fast goodies, I would put it back together and rack up a few more miles. :)

I bet those bearings look great.

Ive had my Turbo II FC for 6 years and it is on its 3rd engine that Ive put in and the car has 170k miles on it. I guess thats what happens when you make some power. My FD has 90k miles on it and is currently down for a rebuild, It didnt boost when I got it but I fixed it and believe it overboosted. This will be her 2nd heart for the FD.

109,510 on the original engine in my (now) single 93' FD. About 7k on the rebuilt.
67,508 on the original engine in my mostly stock twin turbo 93' FD Touring and still rolling... *knocks on wood*

Natey 03-21-08 12:41 PM

149k. I had it rebuilt at about 140k, even though it still ran like a champ.

Black3rdGenRX7 03-21-08 09:27 PM

241K on chassis, 161K on original engine, 30K on rebuild number 1 (faulty seals), 11K on rebuild#2 (ovreheated in grid lock after a coolant hose leak and no place to go), 37K on replacement engine. I'm the original owner..'94 Base..acquired 11/94. Radiator's been replaced, tranmission rebuilt, AST replaced.

My FD has about 130,000 miles on the chassis and had the same on the engine but it was overheated and cracked the iron but still ran good with alot of smoke.

CYD 03-22-08 09:53 AM

93 fd 134k/chassis, rebuild at 125k...

I just want 50k out of mine....will take 8-10 years to accumulate that many miles, so hopefully I won't have to rebuild for a long, long time.

118k, 3rd motor (rebuilt) hanging on the hoist almost ready to drop in.

j9fd3s 03-22-08 04:19 PM

my old yellow one is still running. 105ish K on it, its had front brakes, a radiator, dp, clutch and the left side's been replaced twice....

124500k on original engine
Question!
For the owners that replaced the original motor.. what kind of signs did your engine give you before your engine went? Just curious

Turbo II FC 03-22-08 10:45 PM

With all the motors ive blown there werent any signs before it blew. It just let go while getting on it. It usually happens like that.

FuturePerfect 03-23-08 03:28 AM

Good thread! I was going to post something like this just to see how many high mileage FDs are out there. The 200K guys give me hope. Keep going! :)

I've got about 122,000 chassis miles--34,000 on the second motor. The first motor never really blew, but since the FD was going to become my daily driver, I wanted to be sure that it was as reliable as can be.

Natey 03-23-08 11:39 AM

whoa Black3rdGen coming up on a quarter million miles! That's quite an accomplishment, especially for the original owner. Do you commute in your FD?

burning a lot of oil.

SLOASFK 04-07-08 04:06 PM

Mine has 121k miles. I guess that's high for a 15 year old car? :dunno:

950 miles on the new motor :)

KJL Designs 04-08-08 07:09 AM

Interesting that the USDM cars seem to be lasting ALOT longer than the JDM cars?

Average engine seems to last to about 70K in Japan. Mind you saying that in the UK the majority of the cars fail to see over 60K before needing a rebuild. :Wconfused
