How to loosen accessory belt?
 

I am in the process of replacing my belt that goes around the air pump/alternator, and there is not enough slack to slide the belt over.

Is there another place to loosen the system besides the alternator? I completely removed the tensioner bolt from the alternator and it helped, but it is still not enough.

Any techniques to help me?

Did you whack the alternator with a rubber mallet to make sure it's positioned as far down as possible? Maybe the airpump can be loosened and repositioned, I havent had mine in many years......

I haven't whacked the alternator, but it seems like it is bottoming out on something. I will try that though if there are no other options.

Make sure you loosened all the bolts to the alt, the big long one can cause the problem you are describing if it is still tight

If you still can't get it, the air pump is only held on by 2 bolts so just take it off and bolt is back on with the belt already in place

I got it, there was a tensioner in the air pump as well. Thanks for the replies.

Yep. No need for whacking. Tensioner on the AP is directly underneath and just hard to see. It took me a little while to find it the first time too.

The manual shows all of this stuff, and the sticky up on top shows where to get them.
