KDR's Dave Barninger told me there are no more 13B REW remans available. All KDR can do is tear down and rebuild the blown motor with good used, or new engine parts. Mine's currently @ Rx7 Store waiting to be disassembled. It's been there for over a month. Failure occured June 1 @ Mid Ohio Sports Car Course, 45 minutes north of Columbus OH. If the motor had to fail, it might as well fail within a 50-mile radius of where the nearest FD Rx7 shop is.

Mazda reman,30k miles,coolant seal failure
Manny, wondered if you solved the overheating issue?given it all to do again what would you do different? |
Motor only ran warm at open track events. Temps would range in the 115s to 117s C at the end of track session during spring/summer months. This is no surprise given constant boosting at 10 to 12 psi.
On the street, with 15 psi boost, A/C on, and 90-degree ambient temp (summer), temps would climb to 95 C. My KDR motor is comparable to a Rotorsports Racing Stage 3, except my KDR had 2-mm apex seals http://www.rotorsportsracing.com/per...ng/engines.htm KDR motor lost compression in the front rotor after 18000 miles/18 months. It's still a mystery as to HOW the front rotor lost compression. I don't think the failure was heat-related. As soon as Rx7 Store's zayrx7, Jason and rotarded can crack my motor open, and look at all the parts--we'll know what's up. What would I do differently? Drive a naturally aspirated German car (Porsche or BMW)... Originally posted by mp5 Manny, wondered if you solved the overheating issue?given it all to do again what would you do different? |
