take off the drivers door panel, look for the four pin plug towards the outside of the door that has a mint green/black wire in it. put that wire directly to ground perminantley. that is the disarm wire. you can also get that wire in the kick at the alarm module but i cant remember which plug exactly.

With the alarm disabled by pulling the 20 and 8 pins mentioned above, we then don't have to worry about the constant drain the alarm caused as well on the battery.

the alarm shouldnt have a significant draw on the battery even in the armed state. if it does then yes diconecting it would be best.

With the small pc-680 battery, a week or two with the alarm armed would drain it down to the point of not starting. Atleast I think the alarm was the only thing making a drain at the time.

abosolutley. i ended up ditching that battery cause it would die all the time...lol.

Why not just fix alarm? Disconnecting white connector will remove functionality like key lights and rev buzzer.

Stock alarm is not that bad, why disabling it. I had previous owner just cut wires to key in a door(To take door handle out) and alarm would go crazy. After repairs I enjoy working system.

I guess a quick disconnect is easier than tracking down what is actually causing it to go off in the middle of the night.

With that in mind, what woud FIX everyone's alarm system woes? Where to start type thing?

If you need to troubleshoot intermittant issues - you need to locate bad connection.

That big connector on CPU2 got all switches inputs. Alarm goes off when hood open, trunk open, door open without a key. Alarm disarms when you open hatch or door with a key.

If alarm goes off in a middle of night - I would start troubleshooting by disabling door, trunk and hood switches one by one. Immitating "closed" position so alarm would arm fine. Waiting for few days seeing that problem goes away and then you know which switch is bad.

If alarm goes off when you open door with a key - then you need to clean/fix/replace keylock switch. Or, I heard they just fall off key cylinder.

Factory alarm is no worse then any fancy schmancy aftermarket stuff. It's all about inputs. You can easily augment stock alarm with tilt sensor and proximity sensors. Just use one of the inputs and diode isolate.
