Hot/Cold dial not working

One of the things on my car that has been a problem since I got it is the knob for dialing the hot/cold air does not seem to work. It turns, and continues to turn.

It blows moderately warm or ambient, if you turn it and turn it it eventually is warm air.

Is this in the module most likely or in the door itself in the HVAC unit?

Thanks

Pull the knob off. Just grab it, and pull it straight back. Underneath, you will most likely find that the nut has come loose. Turn it underneath until the little square nob fits into the hole, then tighten the nut in place. You will understand once you pull the knob off. This is a simple fix that will take about 1 minute. Let us know how it goes.

Nice post. If anyone notices the knob is sorta floppy or the clicks aren't precise you'll probably have the same nut loose.

I've fixed a few exactly like Adam says.

Thanks Adam,

That did fix it. I had pulled the entire unit apart to clean and paint it and just re-assembled it, put it back in the car and it now clicks, where it did not before and works great.

You're welcome. Glad I could help, and it was nice to get a thank you :)

I had the same problem and I used just a tiny bit of threadlock when tightening the nut to prevent the problem from returning. It has been working properly for about 5-6 years since then without any maintenance.
