HID question...

Hi all, My Spirit R has HID lighting (fitted by prior owner so I have no idea what make),I've noticed the LH light(when sitting in the vehicle) is brighter than the right. The right one also flickers slowly, then increases it's "flicker rate" before settling down and stops flickering after about 10-15 seconds. Any ideas why?

Have you checked the ballast on the right HID and the lens angle on the left?

Sorry mate, I'm new to all this. What do you mean by ballast? and what would the lens angle have to do with brightness?

This is what a ballast looks like:

Yours should look similar to that one since they all pretty much look similar. Each HID bulb has a ballast. Poke around near your headlights for it. The ballast supplies power to the HID bulbs. Maybe the bulb is defective?

Check your grounds and terminals.. This happened to me (not the brightness, but flicker). When I shorten all the wires and double checked my terminals/grounds, it solved the problem. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply guys...

OK, the ballast is inside the engine bay located right near where the retraction mechanism is for the lights.

Fd3s4e my lights look nothing like yours, they just look like the stock lights with regular looking bulbs.

XxMerlinxX the light pattern was virtually pointing directly to the ground!, first time I drove at night I could barely see the beams 'cause they basically shone only a couple of feet in front of the car, the drivers side one was further down than the other, I've adjusted them now so they project further forward an at about the same height.

don't they work regardless on both high/low beam settings or do they only come on only on a certain setting?, I may have to have an auto elec take a look as I know nothing about things elec!.
