Hi everyone, 93 vs 95 which is better?

Hi everyone, I just registered today because I am serious considering buy a 3rd gen RX-7 and found lots of Rx-7 lovers here. It has always been my dream car and now I have finally decide to get it. I am wondering about getting a 93 or 95 rx-7 (If both are stock, no mods, same mileage, original engine). There is a difference of $3k in price, and I think maybe i am able to fix the stock problem with it. Maybe you guys will think I am dumb selling 06 civic si and get Rx-7, but I just love this car so much and willing to work on it with love, so plz help me out. Thank you :)

PS: I can't figure out where to post this thread, this place seems to be the most suitable.

Haha, nobody will ever think you are dumb for getting rid of a Honda and picking up a 7..But in response to your question,I suggest you do a lot more reading up.These cars aren't Hondas at all,and they will require much more work and maintenance.Read everything you can, especially the FAQ like suggested above me.

You are in for some flamage right away. But i will try and help you before this gets ugly.

1) The 93 FD was the first model brought to the US, thus it had a few more issues (recalls, technical services items, and just bad engineering) than the 95. So for the most part 95 are more desireable than the 93.

2) There are plenty of nice 93's I would take over a beat up 95. The year is not always the main buying factor. Research each cars history!

3) Which model is it: Touring or R2....Tell us the price and miles that will help as well.

4) Do you have an idea how much diffent and work intensive this car is from your Honda? Be aware a full stock FD will need to be upgraded with reliabity mods to ensure longevity. This cost additional money, are you prepared for this?

95's look the best :D

The 94-95 have a feature that you may consider important (or may not) - a passenger side airbag.

Nope....nope, don't think your as dumb as the people who actually bought a civic si and then actuallly kept it! Only kidding.

Since the cars you are looking at are already 10 years old, it wouldn't make a difference which one you buy. Just get the one that is well maintained and as close to stock as possible. And whatever you paid for it....have the same amount in liquid cash in the bank in order to keep fixing it...they tend to be hifgh maintenance.

94,95 came with a better interior, get a 95 if all else is the same

Good luck trying to find a 95.
R1,R2-stiffer suspension, suede interior,lip, z-rated tires.
Touring-sunroof, leather, bose system.

You should go with an r1 model. I personally think its the best model they have made.

If your thinking about the Touring model you don't need a sunroof because it actually takes up more head space and its heavy. On the R1 the suede interior is really nice because you dont move around at all and its great for the weather conditions. Its also a big plus on the suspension.

What rx7s have you found? And where.
