Help Removing A/C?????

How do I remove the A/C?
I already unbolted the compressor but I want to remove it completed . I am pulling my engine so might as well do this. Never really used the A/C in the 2 years I have my FD. Do I need to depressurized the system.
Any advice would help. Thanx

Yes you need to depressurize the system.. the best way to do it is go to an A/C shop and have them clear the system...

I am assuming you cannot drive to a shop because you say you are pulling your engine. If this is the case..there are a couple of options...1) BUY a A/C replacement kit( the one that converts to the new refridgerent.) After you scavenge the old gas just stop and remove the lines..
Option#2) just unbolt the lines at the compressor and walk away for about 5 minutes or so..And hope no EPA people are around. Option#2 Is ILLEGAL. But happens VERY often. It is also very bad for the enviorment..but given everything else we( the world) does to it I don't think it's all that big a deal. But the judge may!!

I just unpluged mine. It sprayed everywhere but I don't care. However you might want to put a towel or something around the hose which you unplug cause that r12 thing eats the paint.

Thanx alot
I disconnected one of the hoses and it started hissing and scared the shit out of me
I will take it off today
I guess option #2 will do

huero,
congratulations on a great mod. junk the power steering while you are at it. don't forget to trash the heat exchanger ( a-c radiator) that does a great job blocking all the incoming air to you real radiator.

What bout taking the lines of the the firewall. I've done all but that and i was just wondering how tuff it would be to get rid of those too?

Much easier if you take off the ABS heat shield first.

And yea, junk the power steering.

Huero 03-25-04 11:28 PM

Finally got A/C off. Took the heat exchanger off and all A/C lines except the big one to the firewall. There is no room but I will remove ABS shield and try again.

How do I eliminate (cancel)the P/S?
more info
Thanx
