Help..real funky problem found...

I was removing the y-pipe, when I heard these clicking sounds coming from the right fender section. Turned out to be a wiring problem. I believe they have something to do with the electrical solenoids attached to the intake manifold (control turbo switchover). I played around with the wires (pressing them, moving them) and the clickickng sounds came from what I think are those black boxes found on the right wheel well. Below is a picture of the wires I"m talking about...How hard would it be to work on these wires?

Borrow a multimeter from a friend or someone, pull off the plugs or harnesses whatever they're called and **** with em. Either in the manual or at the dealer you should be able to get a wiring diagram to troubleshoot with. Its not that bad, just break down the system. Email me at ivanuscg@hotmail.com if you have anymore questions. Or if you have Instant messenger my SN is ivanuscg......

I think that the black boxes are the fan relays.

hmmm...I guess thats possible...ever since the hose job, whenever the key is switched to "on" or when the motor is running, the fan is constantly on..after I switch the motor off, the fans continue for 10 minutes (even after leaving the motor on for just 1 minute). Temp. gauge seems fine. can anyone else confirm this?

also wondering whether the rubber coated black boxes have anything to do with the turbo controls...

If you have the A/C on the fans will be on. Go to rx7.voodoobox.net and go to the How-to fan mod section.

Relay Wiring

Those plugs look like there in the rats nest area near the upper intake manifold.....I don't know how they would affect the fan relays unless when you move the harness and the fan wires are in the same harness may be shorting the fan wiring to ground. Look at the harness and see if you have any wires that are pinched or rubbed bare. Have you gone non-sequential ??? as those plugs look like the go to the control solinoids.

The wire harness at that point has five things...2 control solenoids, airpump, thermostat (I think...in front of radiator cap) and one that leads to something else...not sure, but has blue coloured clips. Any ideas?
