It took me forever to find that shack bulb to. Im not sure about its brightness though.
I've read these are excellent bulbs. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...SEARCH=LXDF18+ I bought some extras if anyone wants to meet up and buy em from me. |
would these be suitable for the exterior keyhole light, and is there a proper way to solder it to the 2 wires, just wondering because I dont want to blow another cpu2.

Id recomend next time dissconecting the CPU2......solder the bulb wires and then reconnect the CPU2. This way you (we lol) wont be able to fry another one. |
Just to clarify, the keyhole light is much larger than the lamp used in the security system indicator. Compare my post #1 to #29. The bulbs in #29 are perfect for the keyhole light.

Lol, good idea I never thought of just disconnecting the cpu2 while soldering it one. I am not too concerned about a bulb fitting into that rubber plug type thing, the previous owner just seemed to remove the original light and rubber plug, and left the two white wires hanging there, so I will just have to figure out some way else to fasten it. As for the bulbs, I will have to try and find that grain of wheat type bulb, all we have here in canada is circuit city, and they either have the security light bulb, or a led type bulb which is the one I tried and fried the cpu2 with. |

If its any consulation...i lost mine also! GRRRR So what i did was as i mentioned above. Find a piece of silicone hose from your box of crap (or least thats where mine was lol). i had a few different sizes, so i grabed the one that fit the bulb size best, cut it to approx length of that hole where the gromit goes. I then cut a notch out of the silicone in the area closest to the key hole (front bottom half of the silicone). I did this because if you left the sillicone whole, the light wouldnt be able to shine downwards not getting full illumination out of it, only straight out the end |

LOL dont you know by now thats the way it always works! Even better when you put some small part in a spot where you know you wont lose it, and low and behold you cant remember where that stupid spot was!!

I mean, I remember grabbing the little fucker 'cuz I'd had it in my coat pocket for like a week, and I said to myself, "Self....better put this where it won't get lost...." and fuck me running if I STILL didn't somehow lose it!!!! :wallbash: Ihor is looking for one..... |
Oh sorry..thought you ment the rubber gromit for the key light.
