Help/Code 11 & glowing ex-manifold? has anyone ecounter with this code before?

Hey over the winter months I reaplce my omp lines, and FPR with an aftermarket type {paxton} same as sx, anyway car startup fine and warmup perfect and shows no sign of hestation or alot of fuel is dumping into engine. Anyway I notice the glowing exhaust and deceide to plug the diagnostic tester and code 11 pop out? According to the book it's the Idle cam and ISC but for those smystoms the car suppose to shut off unexpected or rough idle? Which the car show no sign's of either? Can anyone help me with this weir problem thanks alot, khris

According to rob robinette (sp?) website, code 11 is the IAT sensor. NOt sure if its the one under the UIM. There's two listed. NOt sure how this would be related to a glowing exhaust manifold. Maybe the IAT is faulty and reading a funny temp, so a lot of fuel is dumping into the motor? Clogged cat causing the exhaust manifold to heat?

not sure about this one, sorry :(

11 Intake air thermosensor (engine)

the intake air thermosensor is the blue sensor underneath the upper intake manifold. there are like 3 connectors that look that same. one time i connected the wrong one to the sensor and got the code.

also try resetting the ecu.

Make sure the sensor is grounded out. The ground for it is on the rear hoist hook, bottom bolt. I left this ground off, and I pulled this code. My exhaust was glowing with this as well. It sets the ECU into safe mode, and says the air temp is always 60 some degrees, so it runs rich as shit. Good luck.

When I was throwing code11 I changed the sensor on the underside of the UIM. Never saw the code again. Also ran better. It wasn't hesitating before, but when I floored it it just wouldn't accelerate the way it should(ie running rich).

I was also getting a glowing downpipe after startup, but I thought that went away with something else, not the sensor replacement, but it could have been related.

Glowing exhaust pipes mean that you're running pretty damn rich. A faulty Air intake temp sensor would cause your car to run rich as a safety measure. Mine did this too, however, when my air intake temp sensor went out, my car started bucking like crazy. Replace the air intake temp sensor and see if that solves your problems. I believe the sensor was ~$40 from Malloy Mazda.

Ok sound like I cross the connectors with the intake air thermosensor, I will check it out tomorrow. thanks alot, khris
