Secretive to me only means that 1) whatever it is really isn't that fast; 2) you don't own anything. That's the ricer mentality that I expect. I've got all mine up there to see. Nothing to hide. Make your own assumptions on that.

It was a joke. I have probably more junk in and around my dash than him. 5 autometers on the dash, 2 in the glove box, a boost controller, a turbo timer, tv/dvd deal, rear view cam, etc.

and I have nothing really to hide either. and no, i dont have a car. and/or its really slow.

so you can do your homework :) or you can spot me out. since you are so fast, Ill take one and the hit and run for my life ;)

TDCPROJECT 05-01-05 05:05 PM

oh and secretive is the name of the game if you are a street racer. I would get used to it now, you wont like when you start to actually race instead of sit around in a parking lot. Again, Im assuming, but just based of what you told me.

Damn man very nice looking. Sorry the gauges are taking forever, I wish the guy would hurry up as well. But sanding down the film is a great idea, how much of a pain in the ass is this? Maybe I will do it as well for the look until Dave finishes the reverse glows.

Did I see something about a Defi BF air/fuel gauge?

It's a huge pain in the ass. Took me an entire day.

Not a BF A/F gauge, but a D-series A/F with a color change ;)

Sorry if a bit off topic, but how do you get this view from a GPS?

Battyboy 05-02-05 06:54 AM

Nice set up. I'm just sorting out my gauge holders so I can put my Sards in. Wont look as good as yours though. Damn.

vel525 05-02-05 09:17 AM

Damn Tom, those look great. If I ever have some free time I'll have to do the same with the stock gauges.

Mine can do that but I find it far too disorienting.

I'll help you out when you're ready, you don't need to make the same mistakes I did and try to be tricky by using a dremel :) All I ask in return is a tripometer button (i lost mine) and fuel and oil pressure faces (i melted mine  ). We can even post a writeup with pictures, since i was far too lazy to do that.

speedracer2235 05-02-05 11:11 AM

Very Very nice! I hope to one day to flatter your set up on my car. Hopefully mine will come out as nice as yours.

How did you melt them? btw I just did this mod, still waiting on the LEDs. For the most part it wasnt that bad. The trick to removing the needles is to rotate them all the way around to "break them loose," then just pull on them from the black circlular part till they come loose. Good writeup nonetheless, I have been wanting to change the color of the stock lighting for some time now.

scratchjunkie 05-09-05 03:03 PM

wow thats nice! for some reason i love that color instead of orange. you sir are now a certified pimp!

I thought I'd be tricky and put a polishing wheel on my demel. Well, it worked...but heated up too quickly.

Damnit! You be me to it. I was going to say that his cockpit looked like an airplane's also.

broken93 05-09-05 05:55 PM

I must say -- I am very impressed, especially with the new backlighting on the stock gauges.

jic 05-09-05 09:05 PM

where can i get the same gauge pod at?
i need either a tri or quad one 60mm also
whos this frank person?

DougFD3S 05-09-05 09:57 PM

Couldn't you coat the back with a thin layer of white paint to diffuse the light, so it doesn't look so washed out where it is close to the bulbs?

atihun 05-09-05 10:26 PM

I'm doing the same thing right now and found that a dab of Acetone on a rag works great in removing the orange film/paint on the back. :D

Herblenny 05-10-05 06:25 PM

Hyperite,

I have to say, That is awesome!! Thanks for the thread.. i might have to give it a shot..

rx7xj 05-10-05 06:48 PM

That's awesome.

I had this idea when I first checked out my FD. I loved the way gauges look if they are black with super-white letters and a red needle. However, doing this seems like a chore, let alone also matching all other components that light up "Orangey-Red".

I'll take our Stock Orange over Toyota/Honda Green though.

If someone were to make a kit (although it might not make sense, just a bunch of bulbs I guess) and I had the time I'd do it all white...someday I guess...glad to see it CAN be done though...
