I've got a PWR Racing Radiator. However, I noticed the heat doesn't come into the car until the engine warms up. Is how long is should take? like 10-15 min. And its not even that strong. I'm thinking its just engine heat that I'm getting and the radiator is not working.

Also my AC stopped working a few months ago. Maybe their related.

Any ideas?

First off, the heat only truly works in the "foot" position on the car - if you have the air coming out of the regular vents, it takes longer for warm air to come out and it's not as hot.

It's actually in the owner's manual .

agreed on the true heat from the feet (since heat rises anyway, you'll feel it from down low and up high) but i dont agree with takes long and not as hot on regular vents..

all the cars i driven have the heat BLAZIN through the regular vents..

during winter time, i would start the car up, put the heat to position 2, go back inside and have a short breakfast, then like 10 minutes later go back out and the car is like a damn BBQ LOL..

 

Make sure your coolant level is topped up. Frequent cause of "no heat".

 

Mazda apparently did this because they thought hot air blowing in your face might cause you to get sleepy. These cars do take a bit to warm up when its cold out. Low coolant would cause the motor to run hot and trip the low coolant alarm. You could have a blockage in the heater core or a problem with the hvac controls themselves.

 

I check the coolant its fine. I'll check if on the feet it a lot warmer.

So its ok that it take 10-15 min to heat up. On my second gen within a few seconds I start feeling the air warm up. In a minute its hot air.

Just wondering if I need to take it to shop or if this is normal.

On top of that last night the drive side on the door handle on of the two plastic leavers broke as I was trying to open the door. It was unlocked but I guess it jammed or something. Theres two pieces on the door handle. on piece broke off the other just doesn' have anything pulling it down anmore.

I hope I explainined that ok.

 

Guys, he said "no heat until engine is warm". That's normal for any car because the heater core uses hot coolant to work the heater

i have the same problem no heat at all from any position........ popped the hood and check the upper most rad hose and it was warm, felt the lower one and it was cold. the car doesn't overheat just stays midway on the gauge once warmed up. gonna feel the lines at the heater core tomorrow to see if they are warm.

 

Dale is correct on the "cold face" dash vents.

Poor heat usually due to t-stat stuck open. Verified by upper rad hose that slowly warms from a cold start. Should not get hot 'till t-stat opens at 180F (oem).

 

my problem ended up being a clogged heater core. i ran water backwards through the heater core and all is well now.
