Did you had to cut a lot of metal for the pipes ?

There wasn't much cutting. I had to cut the bumper out and the bumper reinforcement (not metal) there was a small piece of metal that needed cut under the hood but it was easy to do.

do you got pics from what you've cut from metal ?

Ill have to try and get my camera in the spot for you. Its really easy if you look at the link posetd in page one they directions show where you need to make the cut. I ended up going with the autobahn 88 kit. Im suber happy with the kit and for $450 it was priced just fine.

Ok so with the new ic and the ecu my Type S can no longer hold boost. Iv made the spring tighter and that didn't work. I then took the BOV apart and cleaned it out. It still doesn't hold boost. I here there is a spring that can replace the two but I don't know where I can find it. any help would be great.

Im making a flang this weekend and putting it on the intercooler pipe on the cold side. Maybe that will help.

where did u get the kit from?

Thats not a greddy intercooler but a knock off. Nothing wrong with it other than it uses the stock elbow instead of the Greddy elbow.
With shipping on that it comes out to more than the Greddy that we sell.

Nice job....did you just get rid of the AST?? And any more info on the cutting and what you used would be great. Im gona try this install myself aswell and I dont even know how to take the front bumper off!!

To take off the front bumper there is 3 screws on each side holding the bumper to the fenders. I just turned my wheel and pulled the liner out and there is 2 right there and 1 at the very top. Also need to remove the bolts holding the undertray/lip under the bumper and the mounting plate in the engine bay. 1 screw for each of the turn lamps also.

All the info that I have read on installing this FMIC leads me to believe that I will have to change to a smaller battery and maybe even change my intake setup!

Another couple of Qs:
1. I have the a HKS intake, im not sure but I think its a powerflow or something. Its an old model with twin intakes and longish 3inch wide black rubber tubing. Q is will I have to change this to the Greddy AirNX????

2. I have seen many pictures of the smaller battery (PC680 or whatever its called) In all the pics of the smaller battery I have seen it looks like it has female connections that would not mate with the stock power lead lug setup!Q is how does the PC680 mate up to the stock pos/neg power leads that connect to a normal battery??

Sorry if these Q's are a bit simple...but when I go to do this mod I want to be ready!!

So you just replaced the rubber HKS tubing with intercooler type tubing then?? What tubing did you use and where u get it??

I know that the stock front bumper has to be cut to get the Greddy M spec in!!

Can anyone tell me if I will still have to cut into this aftermarket Vertex front bumper to install the Greddy M Spec FMIC??

you can get a kit from rx7store.com. its about 50.00. you can always cut it to fit. it took me over an hour to position my intakes to fit between the airpump and the frame without having them rub together or stick outa my bay. the greddy intakes also are an option. they fit any of the greddy intercoolers


the bumper does not need to be cut. its the bumper rebar. and also possibly a few knotches in the front end bottom guard, for mounts.

if you are using another type of rebar for your vertex bumper, such as the 99 spec rebar(for 99 spec bumper). then you will need to cut into it according to where you mount the intercooler.

I just purchased this replacement intake piping kit from RX7store http://www.rx7store.net/category_s/107.htm will this do the trick or will it need modification aswell??

Also, What cutting/bending tools will need?

Looked at the Greddy installation booklet and find it hard to see what it is talking about at times, especially the shaded areas....getting worried??

I had the Greddy V-SPL kit, and mine did the exact same thing. I was just going down the road testing it out. WOT it was flying until the transition, when the the IC pipe came off. The clamps I had were good, I just didn't tighten it down all the way.

I agree, it does make a world of a difference. Mine felt so much smoother, especially at top end. Clean install, looks good!

I'm also running the Greddy M-Spec FMIC, curious to know what a safe range of (rwhp) is considering its a step down from the V-Spec. Anyone know...
