greddy smic heat seperator...question?

I have a SMIC, and i am wondering what i need to buy or make to seperate the intercooler from my greddy dual intakes? its pretty crowded but i know i dont want the intake that close to the intercooler because of the heat it gives off. can i make something out of foam or aluminum or something. any help would be appreciated. thanks

The IC isn't what's giving off heat....it's the radiator below the IC. And yes, people have fabbed up heat shields, do a search using "heat shield" and the username "Damian".

I built a heat shield years ago for my FD intake using thin aluminum sheets and heatshield material wrapped and taped around boths sides of the aluminum sheet. Got both in my local hardware store (Orchard Supply) where both were available in rolls. Used the aluminum sheet to give the heat shield shape and stiffness. I may have doubled up on the thin aluminum sheet for the required stiffness.

Ran the shield from the side of the radiator to the level of the hood and wrapped it around to the wheel well area to prevent heat from coming in from the rear, turbo area of the engine compartment. You can make an angled, bent lip on top of this fence so when you close the hood, it actually comes in contact with the bent lip of the fence and seals against the hood insulation. It worked quite well for me.

I used the gap between the chassis and the radiator for the fresh air intake. You simply remove the foam insulator to gain that opening.

Here's the link to Damian's heat shield template. With slight modification, it'll work with the wider Greddy intakes. I made it work.
