Good bye RX7

Well, today was a sad day for me. I never thought I'd come about doing this, but I sold my car. After buying it in Dec. 2005, I had a wonderful time with the car and getting compliments where ever I went, but I just couldn't keep it and I needed something more practical. I put the car up for sale, but in the back of my mind, hoped I wouldn't sell it, but after today it is gone. Kane from RX8club.com picked up the car. His brother came from So Cal to pickup the car, and they are driving it back and it will be shipped to Hawaii where Kane will finally be able to see his new car when he gets back from duty in Kuwait in January. It will be missed :-(

What the car was when I first bought it

did u cry?

FearNoPiston 08-18-07 08:29 PM

saddest story I have ever read :crying:

Davin 08-18-07 08:45 PM

but you know it will be in good hands!

skir2222 08-18-07 09:12 PM

What will you be driving now? a RX8?

HardHitter 08-18-07 09:16 PM

I don't know yet, I had an RX8 prior to the 7, and I don't think I could get myself back into the 8.

Top 3 are GTO, 540i, G35 coupe so far, we will see.

skir2222 08-18-07 09:17 PM

I vote for the 540i. If I didnt get my 7 I would of gotten a 3 series

WaLieN 08-18-07 09:29 PM

I've always tossed the idea around, but I think when it comes down to handing your keys over to some random person, that must be tough. I think this is magnified especially if you've worked on the car a lot on your own.

Anyways, look at it positively and mark it as another chapter in your life of cars!:)

What is your budget for a "new" car? Maybe we can give you some accurate suggestions if you do so.

HardHitter 08-18-07 09:50 PM

$25k is the budget, has to seat 4, and has performance

WRX/EVO's won't be considered because I am not fond of them. I know probaby 3/4 of you guys would have suggested them, so just saying it now

RE-Amemiya 08-18-07 09:53 PM

Sorry to see it go for you, always liked your car. Beautiful color!

grimple1 08-18-07 10:13 PM

I've been eyeing the NISMO 350Z. That's a sweet ride. Doesn't match your needs though. Good luck out there!

How about a Lexus SC300? Supra engine. Or Mazda6? The turbo version is supposidly the fastest front wheel drive in production.

rotarymandan 08-18-07 10:24 PM

Can't go wrong with a Bimmer

HardHitter 08-18-07 10:37 PM

I was looking at possibly a 2jzgte SC300, but I don't think I want to deal with CA smog. It was already a hassel with the 7

Upgrayedd 08-18-07 10:43 PM

Take a look at the Mazdaspeed 3 or Mazdaspeed 6. Surprisingly comfortable, quick cars. Or there's always the brand new turbocharged 3 series BMW =). Maybe a used M3? I do approve of your list tho.

And I am sorry for your "loss"

F1blueRx7 08-18-07 11:06 PM

GTO all the way. It's ugly, but it can be made fast, for cheap, double so if you pick up one with an LS2. Pay no mind to my sig, I'm not biased at all :D

HardHitter 08-18-07 11:44 PM

GTO isn't as exotic as the 7 (actually not exotic at all) but it is good because I won't get the attention that my 7 did which eventually caused the car to get keyed :-(

Again, the GTO is running cheap and responds well to mods, I just need to find one

7_rocket 08-19-07 12:16 AM

Do you think you will own another FD?

apex_sideway 08-19-07 12:30 AM

:( i wish i had the courage you have; hope you had a good time while it lasted!

Archie 08-19-07 12:35 AM

"TAPS plays..." it's okay. As long as he won't wrap it around a pole or something stupid. MS6 seems pretty money. M3 would definately be sekks.

skir2222 08-19-07 12:41 AM

Yea the 3 series turbo would be a sick whip to own.

HardHitter 08-19-07 01:11 AM

I'll definitely buy another FD when I am out of college and have my job. I just didn't have the time/money to keep the FD, and buy a cheap daily driver at the time. It sucks, but it's what I had to do.

335i would be sweet, but again, they are in the high 30's/low 40's, way out of my budget.

For now I think as a college student just looking for a nice DD with power potential, the GTO is the way to go.

grimple1 08-19-07 02:43 AM

the problem with bmws is that a majority of the drivers are douche bags. lol

Can't turn a corner in LA without some suit in a bmw. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else in the country.

Try NYC or the Island...:wallbash:

rx73rotorj 08-19-07 10:28 AM

I Dont know man there are alot of cars out there for 25k that can seat 4. My list would go.

1.Nissan Skyline R32 GTR (on autotrader and ebay)
2.Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-T (on autotrader and ebay)
3.Infiniti G35 (turbo kit option)
4.Toyota Supra (what cant you do)
5.BMW M3

rx73rotorj 08-19-07 10:38 AM

And dont get a V8 there overrated and DUMB.

HKNY 08-19-07 06:03 PM

Good luck, go with the Bimmer

Narfle 08-19-07 06:17 PM

get an old M3!

Starfox07 08-19-07 09:25 PM

Terminator
GTO
CTS-V

Those are the three i would consider.

(not 4 seats)
Z06
NSX

Tim Benton 08-19-07 09:48 PM

Gotta love the "never thought I'd see the day when I'd sell it" after owning it for only 2 years. Try owning one for 13 years and then try saying it :) Sounds like you move around a bit with car's you own so it shouldn't have surprised ya much but the car's your looking at getting are also very nice choices. BTW the paint job look great on the FD, was it as good at 2 feet and also nice rims you put on it.

Tim

HardHitter 08-19-07 10:40 PM

I was "forced" to sell this car because of work and just the need for a more practical car. I had NO intentions on selling the car because as you can tell it is a BEAUTIFUL car and I loved it, but it's what I had to do at this point in time :-(

I would love an 03/04 Cobra, but I heard their gas mileage is HORRIBLE! But who knows.

CTS-V looks nice, it's like 4 door GTO by Caddy

Rocket Rotary 08-19-07 10:42 PM

wait, why not the rx8?

HardHitter 08-19-07 11:36 PM

Had one before the 7. Lacked the power, was nice a luxurious but lacked power and the MPG was horrible for how much power it had. My FD had better gas mileage

Starfox07 08-20-07 12:54 AM

On svtperformance the majority of the owners claim their cobras get 25+mpg highway. (one even said he got 26mpg on a trip and his has 440whp) The LSx gm motors are the gas mileage/liter kings though! New Z06 can get damn near 30mpg highway:shocking:

EDIT: A friend of mine just bought an 02 Z06 with 105k miles for $15,000. I couldnt believe it. Runs fine too! Abs needs to fixed though.

WaLieN 08-20-07 02:11 AM

You can't go wrong with an E46 M3.
http://www.zeckhausen.com/images/Cars/BMW/E46_side.JPG

HardHitter 08-20-07 02:38 AM

M3's are still running in the 30+ range

seven lust 08-20-07 09:42 AM

^ that M3 there is a fine example of one of my all time favorite cars. and it is silver the best color for an M3... Anyhow best of luck to you. in about 6moths You will regret it and want to come back. those other cars are nice but once you own a seven it is hard to move forward and not look back.

alphahunter 08-20-07 10:41 AM

Go with an 03/04 Cobra. Cheap to mod and tons of power!

I second that, but what do you need this next car for? Transportation? Who cares about having a really nice BMW.. just get something practical if you're needing a 4 door sedan. Get a new Honda Accord or Toyota Camary. Just keep in mind, nothing you own next, sports car or whatever, will ever feel or be the same as driving an RX-7. Sucks you had to let her go, that was a clean car. Good luck.

Subaru Legacy Sport Edition - There a few 450hp ones here in Portland Oregon. Nice sleepers.

Audi A4-S4

grimple1 08-20-07 04:51 PM

I truely dislike mustangs. Being a tall person, they absoulute suck to drive. NOT to mention the amount of cheap plastic used in the interior. I guess in that regards it's kinda like the 7 BBUUTTT you get my point. Don't get a mustang.

1QWIK7 08-20-07 09:20 PM

LOL @ the get the rx8 comments.

Im telling you dude, GTO if you want raw power with seating for 4 ORRR G35 coupe for luxury, style, maturity and still good power with decent MPG.

I prefer the G35 but thats just me. But judging all your previous posts, it seems like the G35 coupe will suit your needs 110%.

KeloidJonesJr. 08-20-07 09:30 PM

FD's are so sex. MMM MMM

SayNoToPistons 08-20-07 09:33 PM

Subaru Legacy GT gets my vote.

Yeah, but does not come close to comparing to the GTO in terms of power. Even turbo'd... But I think the Bimmer or the G35 are both much nicer cars. Don't get my wrong, I like the GTO but I think the other two are much more refined...

I know that, thats why i said get the GTO if he wants raw power.

When you're in the G35, you wont think about "racing" other people. You feel high class when you're in one. You just wanna enjoy the car.

Its hard to explain which is why i said to just drive one and you will understand.

HardHitter 08-20-07 09:45 PM

Test drove a GTO and I think I'm set on it. Was a pretty strong car and you can't lose with an LS2

Buzzardsluck 08-20-07 09:46 PM

Somehow your exactly as I pictured. Also, happy trails :us4allswi .
