well this is the story...my uncle gave me his 93 touring rx7...stock....with 112 thousand miles (yeah thats alot) but he gave it to me for 6,800.....anyways i drove the car for a total of like ......3 days maybe...and on the 3rd day...i had a radiator hose blow and the car overheated....my smart *** dad thought he could fix the car himself...he ended up breaking it even more...well it took 2 weeks till a mechanic from the dealer came to my house to fix it when i told my dad to take it to a shop in town (i live in miami and theres a shop called "rotary world" pretty cool place they can fix any rx7) well the mechanic fixed the hose and stuff but so happens that when my dad "tried" to fix the car he tried starting it a few times and ended up overheating the engine....well they took the car to the dealer and it so happens that one of the rotors blew........that means NEW ENGINE....i went the shop and they told me a new engine was 4200 installed with 2 year 24000 mile warranty......anyone know of somewhere with a better price ? please help....if not...i think its bye bye rx7 and i really wouldnt want that cuz its such a bad *** car.....any ideas? the turbos are fine all i need is the block pretty much...PLEASE HELP!

$4,200 w/2yr warranty is pretty damn good. You need to ask yourself a question and be honest with yourself...do you love this rare car?

You're topic is "goodbye RX-7" so sounds like you made up your mind already. Find it a good home...

Buy a used motor and put it in if you really want to have it, your not oging to get much money for it if you sell it with no motor..

Send a message to Dimcorner. He knows a good mechanic that use to work at Pettit. The guy's shop is just off of NW103rd on the west side of 826. He does really good work, and can give you a good price.

I've personally never had any work done by him, but Dim has, and he's always happy with the results.

I THINK it's called Dragon Racing, but I don't remember.

Assuming, of course, that you want to KEEP the FD.....

If you really love this car you should'nt be worrying about a few hundred dollars for something cheaper! Take a little time to research your options. You also are fortunate enough to live near some good rotary shops. Take a day and go to Pettit Racing in Ft. Lauderdale. Make sure you call to see if Cameron is there to help you. If he is not, it probably means that he is racing a 3rd. gen somewhere around the world!! He is a master. Let him design something for your appetite. Whether it be perfect stock specifications or a street race monster, Cam can do it! I own a 93' and for anything other than oil changes and minor maintenance(which i do ), it gets taken to him. What I like about Pettit is the fact that they are very knowledgable and have never given me any b.s. I have learned so much about this complicated machine by watching them, than any other book or forum, etc!! Once your car is done right it will blow your mind! GOOD LUCK!!!
