Going with the SR Motorsports Stage II kit
Going with the SR Motorsports Stage II Kit.....what all do you think about it?

:gayboy:

I've heard bad things about SR tuned PFC's... You might want to do some searches on it...
If you are going to get someone else to tune the PFC, then go for it... |
hehehe
hehehehe Whats that supposed to be? I am new:D
|
Jason does that mean you like it:o:

No matter what you get, have someone dyno tune your car for you. The SR tuned maps are way rich.
|
Very true. No shop can tune it for you as well as a proper dyno tune.

Wait, do you mean their Package #2 -- PFC, fuel pump, tuning
OR, their Stage II -- large KKK turbo kit (full spool by 4k rpm -- can you say lag?) |
The Stage II Turbo Kit.....I have heard that they lag but that the KKK turbo kit doesnt lag that bad. BUT I am still new to the RX7 and still learning TONS everyday
|
At first I thought you meant the Stage 2 turbo. Then everyone started posting about the PFC so I figured it was the stage 2 kit. :)

going single is a very large step and should only be made by an experienced FD owner (and more importantly - driver). Stay with the twins for a while. They work great and pull hard. If you have reliability problems, you can always go non-sequential. Don't be in such a rush to make big changes to the car, it's fantastic as it came from the factory.

BUT I am still new to the RX7 and still learning TONS everyday That SR kit is just the turbo kit (nothing else). You need to add a little more to the car than just slap a a single turbo kit on it. Take a look at Jason's single turbo package at the RX-7 Store: http://66.216.67.51/product.asp?0=218&1=308&3=436 |
BTW, I do have a problem purchasing anything from a company that sells a product which has 'KKK' written on it, period...
|
So can anyone give me feed back on the Stage II KKK turbo setup from SR Motorsports....info like when does the turbo kick in....I know it is full boost at 4000rpm....also Can I just lower the boost to something like 400hps with the option of uping boost for straight aways? Thanks guys
|
Jason was not the person that posted bad tuning by SR.
KKK is a brand name. Unless you live in the area and spend alot of money at SR buying "only" his parts, I would not expect any tuning from them. |
This is my personal opinion and I'm not going to keep posting trying to back myself up but I feel like SR Motorsports is the most crooked rx7 parts distributer on the net.
I wouldnt buy a spark plug from Ray. STEPHEN |
Yeah going along with Rynberg...I *think*(although I don't know) that you probably need more RX7 knowledge before buying a big single. As Rynberg suggested, keep the stock twins and do all the bolt ons. You'll be F'in movin', then go single if you choose.
|
Just for argument sake....what kind of 1/4 mile time can you get with the twin turbo setup? (Not that I drag with it...its just like asking how much someone can bench
|
Thier flywheels are VERY nice though.
|
stock twins with a good driver and the right mods have been at 11.1 @ 121ish

As most of you know, I have the KKK stage II and can also tell you its BAD ASS. As for lag, Please!! Thing spools fast as shit!! If you look at the "Kills" section. I just posted how I smoked a CBR 900RR top end. My friend has a 3rd genn with all the bolt ons, bigger injectors, Power FC, and runs 17psi on the street. He can't touch me at 15psi. Not even close. And don't think for a minute your going to run 11.1 on stock turbo's. Aint happening. It was done once by one person. And he was running 19psi with a Haltech. And soon afterwards he blew the turbos.
I ran 11.22 on 14lbs of boost with my turbo. My friend has a T78 and his best time on 16lbs of boost is 11.55......so whats that tell ya??? (And he can drive too) I going back to the track next week probably and going to run 22lbs of boost, so stay tuned. |

I've dealt with SR for years and have many of their parts with no problem. I even toasted an ACT HD and Ray took it back and sent me an Extreme disk free of charge. I've had Ray tune my Power FC three times. Initially, spot on. Second time, spot on. Third time, I was at the fully modded stage adding a midpipe and it was waaay rich. I only gave him a day to tune it and ship it back out. Can't say I blame him for making it rich. Heck, anyone can tune fuel. It's the timing maps and misc. settings you're paying for.
|
My case..
My ordered intercooler piping kit from them long times ago.. for $300 what an ripped off! they sent me a piping kit for stock elbow! which i told them i have greddy elbow! i tried to return piping kit.. but they charged me 15% Restocking fee even though it was their fault.. also i had to pay S/H to return item.. they didn't give a fuck.. I would never order from them again.. |
I saw the Indigo Stage 2 turbo on an FD engine - the thing is sweet. I swear I thought it was ball-bearing for how easy the wheels spun. From what I understand they pull down about 425-430 rwhp at 15 psi - nothing to scoff at. It is a real piece of art. Seems quality too. When you say it gets full boost by 4K rpms, you think that's laggy.............take a ride in a well-tuned single turbo FD - you have to remember that these turbos push alot more air than the stockers and although at 4K you're really moving with the stockers, with a properly setup single - you're going into orbit. The stockers are great for the street and town driving - and you can get about 350-370 rwhp out of them at 15-16 psi which is some wicked power. But nothing beats the reliability and power potential of these single turbos.

Originally posted by Mahjik Might be true, however when I start playing it off as nothing, that's when I'm in trouble with myself. |
ErnieT what all do you have for your setup? What is your 1/4 mile times? Did you go with the apexi front mounted intercooler?
