This goes out to the non-seq boys...

Alright I searched and probably passed right by it , however, have any of you been able to pass emissions with the non-sequential mod if using the stock cat and muffler? Maybe with a finely tuned map? I hate emissions laws...

Yes, I know it gets rid of the emissions crap, but I'm desperate here.

CowsniperRX7 05-03-03 07:20 PM

I just plan on not passing...I am going to get charged $400...CRAP...I need to find ways to cheat the system.

LilFatCrazyWop 05-03-03 07:27 PM

pay em off

racerfoo 05-03-03 09:39 PM

emissions? whats that :p:

duboisr 05-03-03 10:25 PM

If you can change the fuel program then you can pass. Not to say whos car I refer to, it will pass with a down pipe mid pipe and old trust muffler, tuned with a Power FC .We do not have a visual inspection .

When you do the full non-seq conversion like me with the power fc, I'm thinking that It'll have to go something like this.

Wire the air pump to works all the time, and have the air pump dump the air straight into the cat. I'm hoping it'll work, as I'm in the same boat. CJ

chris, can't you put your stock mid-cat back on for that one?

CowsniperRX7 05-04-03 11:36 AM

Nope, i dont think that will work. I MIGHT be able to pass with some nice tuning and the cat installed

neevosh 05-04-03 11:57 AM

What would non-seq. have to do with passing emissions? As long as your airpump and smog equipment is on and in good working order, it shouldn't make a difference.

CowsniperRX7 05-04-03 12:12 PM

If your on the stock computer then the maps are different.

xstacy7 05-04-03 12:59 PM

man that sucks, I am about an hour and a half north of you and don't have it. Check your pm's

pp13bnos 05-04-03 09:07 PM

Well, when I did the full conversion, I pretty much ripped out everything. ;) I'll get my car to pass, just a matter of tweaking it.:D CJ

jdhuegel1 05-04-03 10:04 PM

Alcohol might do it!

duboisr 05-04-03 11:18 PM

To pass just borrow Garfinkles piggy back PFS-PMS and dial it in . then return it and get a ETB .

Fatman0203 05-04-03 11:23 PM

Alcohol usually passes yet there hasnt been emmisions test since 1999 here. A 100% solution move to where they dont have it. :)

Benjamin 05-04-03 11:28 PM

OK--if you put your stock cat back on, and happens to be clogged, then please explain to me how it could possibly release as many emissions as the car would with a new cat or a HFC or MP. Hell--put a block off plate in there too, decreasing the flow even more. As long as you don't 'whomp' on the car, you shouldn't hurt it. If the cat is restricting flow, then it would read to the computer the same.

Install the base map, put the cat back on, put a block off plate in, and tune the fuel down a few %. Am I WAY off here?
