Fuel tank material

I'm in the midst of developing a way to correct the fuel starvation issue for my car. I was wondering if anyone knew for certain what the 1993 FD fuel tank is made of.
I am looking for any possible information: thickness, series number, coatings and experiences welding.

I have deduced that it is 16 Ga mild steel however I am not certain.

Any input?

It doesn't work with the A1000. But back on topic.

Think it may be 18 gauge aluminised under the sealant.....one was cut and shut locally here with a 100mm extension for a 24hr race in Germany....anyhoo, don't see the issue - get cuttin', start measurin'. :gwink:
