found an FD!!

i found an FD, and it has a clean carfax report, and is at 40k miles

everything looks good and great to go but...
the miles were reported over 3.5 years ago
in january of 1999 it had 39k, and nothing else is reported after that,
i should be able to use this as a bargaining tool, (leavin a car sitting around for 3 years is no good), or more obvious, something is missing from the carfax... whichever way i can use this to bargain it down right?

i would say no...as long as the car runs fine...you wont really be able to use it as a bargining chip.

I wuold double check if the car has been registered. If not, the DMV may require the buyer/owner to pay extra registration retroactively. If the car wasn't driven, it still needs to be filed as a non operating vehicle. Some ppl forget and end up being charged a whole lot when they do need to register the car. Don't let that be you.

yea, make sure everything is legit. while i was looking for my fd i found one that was at 39k miles. according to carfax in two years it went 100 miles. he did say he stored it for 8 months, but that got me worried. then he couldnt find the registration right away even though he said he had it. then i checked out his license plate and the sticker was 1998. so for 4 years he "forgot" to put on the tags? maybe it was legit and he was just lazy, but i decide to skip.
