I have a 94 r2, and I want to install aftermarket foglights. But I dont want to run extra wires if i dont have to. Is it possible to use the factory wiring harness to connect aftermarket lights on an R model?

 

does your R2 have the stock wiring harness?? my R1 didn't. i think it had the front harness connector inside the front bumper area where the stock foglights would have hooked up to, but there was no relay in the box (or even any wires that went to the slot where the stock foglight relay would be). also, there wasn't an extra connector inside the center console for where the stock foglight switch would have connected into. so, at least in my car, i couldn't find anything that resembled the stock wiring for the foglights (other than that front connector in the bumper). so i had to run some extra wires for my aftermarket foglights.

one other thing that i found peculiar was that in the wiring schematics manual for the car, it looks like the foglights are connected straight to the switch (i.e. NO RELAY). this didn't make any sense to me. i would think that the foglights would be pulling too much current to run straight thru a switch.

...this probably doesn't answer your question, but it'll give you something else to think about.....
