Fixed Flooding now I am hitting Fuel Cut!! WTF
 

Hey guys, I just un-flooded my car last night. I installed new spark plugs, and spark plug wires, and when I drive it now I hit the fuel cut when i give it 1/2 throttle or more!!

Any ideas??? Could it be a leak in the throttle body, I made sure the plug wires were on tight, I can't think of any reasons why its hitting the fuel cut now, it ran fine before the flooding. . .

Any help would be great.

how do you know its fuel cut?

Well I don't know it is fuel cut but from what I have searched it seems like what people describe it to be.

Once I give it 1/2 throttle or more it starts to accelerate then just stops and throws me forward a little. Like it stopped getting fuel. . .

Maybe its something else any help would be apperciated.

That's either fuel cut or TOO much fuel - definitely not ECU controlled however.

First off, why did you need to unflood the car in the first place?

Check the vacuum line going to the fuel pressure regulator located near the firewall side of the lower intake manifold.

what happens at WOT out of gear?

I flooded the car by pulling it into the garage from the street and turning right off ( I don't know what I was thinking)
I just checked for that vacuum line but couldn't find it.
Can you give me a better description of its location?

Also might want to check the water temp sensor plug behind the filler neck. My car ran fine put when that plug came loose it would not go when i gave it gas. It was too rich.

Syder, pulling into the garage and shutting off is not going to flood the car. If you disconnected the PRC you may have issues when restarting but do you have a factory service manual?

The FPR is on the firewall side of the intake manifold. You can feel the roundness of it if you put your hand down there.

FPR is what I was going to say. It is definitely a fuel issue. Maybe fuel pressure also

Yep. You would think the flooding would have been the first light bulb ;)

In the entire time I've owned my FD (about 7 years) I have never once had to unflood it.

I checked what I think is the FPR and its fine, and I didn't disconnect the PRC.
Any other ideas?

so it stumbles right when you get boost or is it an rpm thing?

have you changed the fuel filter lately? That could relate to fuel pressure also

Okay first off. What did you DO/ADD/MODIFY/CHANGE before all of this flooding, engine starting problem, etc. that got us here?

Please verify proper ignition wire routing while we're at it.

I didn't do anything to lead to the flooding, from what I have read from searching for flooding it is pretty common to flood an FD by doing what I did.

The wires are routed correctly I did check that, and I don't think it would start if they were routed wrong.

It ran great before it flooded, it sat in the garage for about 3 weeks(snow) until I went to start it and found out it was flooded.

John- I am not sure when it stumbles b/c the boost gauge doesn't have a light and I wasn't watching the RPMs while I was driving,
What are you doing tomorrow, maybe I can give you a ride and we can look at it.

I feel ya brah my car is flooded right now I think its flooded but suprfast93 is going to help me tommorrow and changing my plugs. Best of luck to ya.

Justus, I'm gong to a friends house in portland tomorrow. I'll pretty much be working on my car on monday and tuesday. I've decided to drop the turbo for a twin setup. My best bet is your gas is bad or your fuel filter is clogged. If it's your filter, you're on your own

oh, you might need to reset your ecu via unplugging the battery and stepping on the brake pedel for a min or so

Sounds like backwards spark plug wires since that was your mod. Double check it just incase, good way to blow an engine..

if the wires were crossed it would not run or run like crap at startup. He says his car runs fine until he starts to give it boost

Check the wire going into the knock sensor, it you may have accidently yanked on it when you changed the wires and plugs.

I had the same thing happen to me when I did a plug change. Since the knock sensor is in that area, I must have caught it with my hand and pulled the wire out of the sensor. I told my mechanic the symptoms and that all I did was a spark plug change and I'm hitting fuel cut. Thats when he checked the knock sensor and....bingo! the wire was out.

Well for some reason, resetting the ECU fixed it!!
