Finally Got Pics of My FD

I have had it for 3 weeks now, but wanted to do some things to it before I took pics. It's a 94 PEP with 28k miles. Was 100% stock, but I have added the following.
18" Wheels w/ 235/40/18 tires
RB springs
SS Downpipe
AM/FM/DVD/CD/MP3/VCD/NAV unit
Alpine rear and Kicker front speakers

I also have some new drilled/slotted rotors, that I haven't put on yet, becasue I don't have new pads yet.

:withstupi

who makes that dvd setup? and where is the dvd player, is it behind the screen, or elsewhere?
NICE :)

Str8Down 11-30-03 03:33 PM

It is a double din unit obviously, made by Rosen, and I had it custom molded to fit perfect. I insisted to them that it look factory, so they used fiberglass and bondo to custom fab the install. The CD\DVD\MP3\VCD's go in behind the screen, it tilts down to expose a slot behind the unit.

I don't quite understand what you were trying to say. Are you saying that with the DVD monitor, an HKS computer can be displayed on the screen with car info?

PhoenixDownVII 11-30-03 06:59 PM

very nice check out www.mrccfl.com

i think he meant you could get the HKS monitorins system and use it to display your cars stat's while your driving, jus tliek any other advanced management system

how much was the whole unit (dvd, cd, rad, nav, etc)?
just th eunit, not the install

Shinobi-X 11-30-03 08:22 PM

Very impressive setup. Do you mind taking some photos of the interior from farther back, so we can see how it fits as a whole?

rx7raca 11-30-03 08:40 PM

pianoprodigy 11-30-03 11:17 PM

The wheels look big to me???

I have 18s, but I would have guessed those were 19s or 20s. Maybe I'm just crazy...

Anyways, congrats on a beautiful car. I'm loving the in-dash screen:bigthumb:

pstnh8r 11-30-03 11:52 PM

rfreeman27 12-01-03 12:25 AM

What kind of wheels are they?

They look like HRE, but i could be wrong.

ttb 12-01-03 02:32 AM

like the dvd setup. car looks very clean, but i'll have to agree that the wheels look really big. is it just the angle?

negative 12-01-03 03:09 AM

Damn, nice shift knob.

Str8Down 12-01-03 10:00 AM

The rims are Privat Fahren's They are 18x9 and 22 lbs each, not too bad. The AV unit is by Rosen, and I got a good deal off ebay for $999 new. They run about $1200 elsewhere on the web. The custom install job was $200. Pheonix, the RB springs were surprisingly, the easiest thing I have done. I would say, just barely harder than doing a brake job.

Str8Down 12-01-03 11:24 AM

Rx7raca,
The car cost me $17,500. I looked for a long time to find the one I wanted. I actually decided I wanted a Silver or White 94 or 95 Touring/PEP, but when this Black came up with so few miles at such a good price, I jumped on it.

persuasio24 12-01-03 11:28 AM

Beautiful car man! Try and keep it as clean as it is. That is in amazing condition!!

Scrapiron7 12-01-03 11:34 AM

Curious why you are only running a 235/40/18 on a 9 inch wide rim?

Str8Down 12-01-03 02:01 PM

They are Yok AVS ES100 tires, so they are reasonably inexpensive, so I wanted to majke sure I have no rubbing before I go bigger. If I get no rubbing, I will go with 245's next time. I wanted it non-staggered so I can rotate them.

Str8Down 12-01-03 03:36 PM

Here are some farther away pics of interior as requested.

Thanks for the shots. It looks to fit extremely well, and provides a modern touch to the FD.:bigthumb:

Red-Rx7 12-01-03 04:20 PM

Str8Down-

Which shop did the install? They did an amazing job.

Red-Rx7 12-01-03 04:23 PM

... Also how is the quality of the DVD player? Did you also get the Nav system with it? It any good (updated with streets, etc)? How is the TV tuner?

Str8Down 12-01-03 04:47 PM

I didn't buy the antenna for the TV, so I don't get any reception. I am thinking about hooking up the Diversity for the TV and see if that would work. Would be nice to use what is already there. Anyone radio/tv experts know if this would work? The DVD player has great pic quality. The internal amp on the unit is only OK. But it has preamp outs so you can easily hook up an external amp. The NAV addition isn't available yet. They said Decemeber, but they said Nov before that, so I am not holing my breath. But that is the whole reason I chose this unit, for the integrated NAV. My G35 has NAV and once you have it, you will never own another car without it.

I do have a few gripes about the unit. The AM/FM tuner screen is pretty "vanilla". They could have done a lot more with it. It doesn't have RMS and you can't even name the stations yourself. The CD screen is even worse. They have this huge screen, and all it shows is 1 little line showing the track number and time remaining. I can't beleive that this unit doesn't have CD-Text for over $1000.

The MP3 display is ok, basically a stripped down windows explorer.

Str8Down 12-01-03 04:48 PM

And the name of the shop that did the install is "Audio Perfection" they are a small shop here in Jax.

rx7racer11 12-01-03 05:15 PM

that dvd setup is clean man

Twinturbo522 12-01-03 07:38 PM

Nice lookin car...

academytim 12-01-03 08:46 PM

 That DVD player is AWESOME. Damn you, now thats another 1200 bucks im going to eventually have to spend on my car.

dpasseto 12-01-03 09:00 PM

you've got to do something about that boost line behind the steering wheel. Nice car dude!

Str8Down 12-01-03 09:32 PM

LOL, and the boost guage taped to the column?? I ordered a gauge pod, just waiting for it to get here.

wiblergt 12-10-03 03:46 PM

JSpecRZ 12-12-03 11:39 AM

GREAT JOB!!

Can we get pics of the different screens on the monitor??:)

Sparkey 12-12-03 11:56 AM

Looks good man I love black fd's seeing as the reason that I own one.

Pumpkin King 12-19-03 12:44 PM

does your dvd player work while your car is in motion. The only reason I ask is becasue yesterday I went to the car audio shop in my area to get a tv placed like you have and they told me it waz aginst the law to have a tv that the driver can see while in motion and his shop wouldn't set it up. The next I look on the forum and I see your car.

ZeroBanger 12-19-03 12:52 PM
