Finally getting painted

Cars at the shop now getting torn apart for paint, motors been pulled already... I've had this car since 2006. Time to fix the dings and damage of some stupid driver that changed lanes into me years ago and get my new hood painted... car has been sitting since the motor blew back in 2017.

Well almost everything. inside the doors where the plastics cover/engine bay/and trunk area under the plastics and carpet. Only way you'll know it was the crap montego blue is if you pull up the carpets

throttle cable is removed pretty easily if you haven't yet. its just a squeeze clip. the front harness doesn't have to be fully removed. unclipping it allows for it to be completely out of the way and it can be hung so that area can be painted appropriately. the hood release cable is 2 bolts and a boot to remove. not sure if they're just in for the pictures and weren't removed yet but i have seen people mask around things that just simply could have been removed. would hate to see all this work sullied.

Chiming in really quick but I believe you mention that you have a favorite place in Tampa to get your FD's painted, mind telling the name? I forgot, you mentioned it before

Thumbs up

Damn bud, I remember talking to you about an engine rebuild back in 2017..... she's still not running?

Best of luck on the paint job, staying with the same color? Have them roll all four fenders prior to paint! <-------- Read This Before It's Too Late

Messaged me today saying they just pressure washed the engine bay. Jeeze the car looks like it's at a junk yard the way it currently looks..

The previous owners paint guy wasn't really thorough.

He says this is how the cars going to look when painting.. he takes everything off

It's kind of hard to go wrong with red. Or black.
And throw some temperature indicating stickers on there just for the hell of it. Racecar chic.

I think they were red at one point but they were painted yellow and i sen when the paint started fading and chipping i saw the red. I feel though red is overly used for calipers and black aswell.. so just trying to be slightly different but something that goes with yellow(Yes red does but not what I'm looking for)

I didnt know they had temperature indicating stickers for brakes? News to me

Brought the hood for test fitting and drilling for the hood latch. I forgot to take a picture with the hood latch on... he says car should be ready friday if everything goes good..

He says he hates painting yellow cars with a passion, they make such a mess and get everywhere. I had my dog there but leashed to the lift which was about 10 feet away from the car. When we left he had it on his paws somehow. Now i got to wash the inside of my daily

I'll try to get better pictures later when the sun is out.
My brother is telling me to sell the car as is and get a rhd from japan... I feel i could, but to find a yellow fd(can't see myself in any other color besides that like 2002 blue). But then a part of me really doesn't want to part with her. She's been with me since 2006

Your brother is giving you very bad advice IMO...... have you driven a RHD FD? I'm not a fan at all for a few reasons. Prefer LHD much more. Keep that yellow beauty

No i havent driven a rhd Fd but he had a 1300hp rhd supra he recently sold. I've driven it after lowered the boost down to 800hp(wg spring) because I'm not trying to kill myself in it. But yes I thought on it all day yesterday and it just didn't sit right with me. So and I told him I'm not going to sell it. I just got a step closer to it being done. I put so much work in that car i don't think id sell it unless I absolutely had to. Like if I was about to buy a house or something
