Is there an old thread about your problem? How about a link.

Glad you got it fixed :)

Madmax670 11-12-04 06:01 PM

what was your boost pattern prior to fixing it?

djseven 11-12-04 06:42 PM

probably 8-6-8?

Madmax670 11-12-04 06:56 PM

what hoses are supposed to have the pills in them?

z28_SS 11-12-04 07:04 PM

the precontrol actuator and wastegate actuator hose..

badinfluencemp 11-12-04 08:05 PM

my boost was like 7-5-7 then droped to like 2 near red line

does mahik ever not have the answer? hey badinfluence, that is like where my boost is at, when you shifted sometimes did you get very inconsistent boost as well?? What did you do about the pills?? Details man u could be my savior....

speeddemon7 11-13-04 08:30 AM

considering the fact that i have the exact same boost pattern right now may be an indicator that maybe my precontrol pill has shifted around in the hose.

Madmax670 11-13-04 11:20 AM

What is the best way to check if the pills are even in those hoses, im not sure if the previous owner remembered to put the pills back in, if they are not there, what can i use to replace them?

rizzxx7 11-13-04 11:24 AM

I got so tired of fixing mine that I went single and now its smooth sailing!!

Madmax670 11-13-04 11:47 AM

i plan on going single at one point, but right now i wanna get my seq. twins going, anyone got any answers?

You can squeeze them to see if they're there. Keep in mind some 94s and 95s use different nipples with the restrictor built in - so the pills are unnecessary in that case.

Carburetors use these kind of restrictors, so run a SEARCH and you should have the info you need.

best bet for replacements is to call ray crowe and order some.

Rotary rookie here.... It sounds like we're talking about small restrictors (orifices?) placed in these hoses. Is that right? If so, where are they located? Near the solenoids or at the actuators. In the case of the '94/'95 would the "pill" be built into the solenoid or be at the other end? I'm getting less boost than I should be and din't know about this. I had the silicone hose job done so maybe they missed it.

Uh, they're located in the yellow-dot and red-dot hoses in the picture Mahjik inserted above. That was the point of the picture. In the late 94s and 95s I understand they are built into the turbo side nipples. A mechanic w/o FD experience will frequently pitch these pills.

And yes, these pills are brass beads with a hole drilled in them - the hole must aligned properly and they can't get switched.

How much less boost? Install a gauge (temporary is fine, just run a 0-15psi gauge through a crack in the window to the unused nipple on your UIM) and see the Vanditmar turbo troubleshooting site and go from there.
