Fiber Clear reinforced hose question

Just wondering if this type of hose is okay to use to bypass the coolant nipple at the waterpump housing, it is the clear hose that is fiber reinforced.

Kai, do you know the pressure rating? I wouldnt use anything other than legit coolant hose.

Yeah, decided to go to another store and get the regular hose, did not want to take the risk

Seems to be 100psi for the 1/2inch and and 45psi for the 6inch but that's the non fiber reinforced so i'm sure that would be even higher

edit: looks to be a little over double

Don't forget to also check temp ratings of the hose as well as pressure ratings.

That type of hose is typically rather hard and thin-walled. I think you'd have problems getting it to seal right to the nipple, and over time the hose clamp would probably cut into the hose.

No need to reinvent the wheel on this one :).

i think those hoses melt pretty easily. i used to use the clear fiber reinforced hoses for computer watercooling builds back in the early '00's...had a water pump fail once and the metal barb fitting got so hot it melted though the hose. installed a failsafe kill after that...lol

I agree.. if temp and pressure rating is ok, I don't see why not. I use some of these at work with over 150lbs of pressure (air) but never hot liquid under pressure.

+1

You're asking for problems using that stuff in an FD engine bay.

Friend used that stuff one time on his RB25 s14 and it was like goo after 5 min of driving.
