People break the diff with much less than that on drag race launches. But my guess is that it would hold outside of that kind of usage.

Are you going to be doing drag-style launches?

If your spinning your not breaking. With 500 lb/ft chances are on street tires you will just blow the tires away. If you actually want to hook up with that kind of torque, you will need to upgrade your diff to a kaaz unit or something else.

If you're more interested in drag racing then swap to a solid rear end.

A cheaper solution is a used '86-88 S4 Turbo 2 LSD (clutch pack style) that is a direct bolt in and some upgraded 300M axles. That should be sufficient for drag racing and whatever else you want to throw at it. I'm using this setup and putting down 385rwtq with no problems.

Just remember if you get any wheel hop to get out of it immediately. That will for sure break parts no matter what you have eventually.
