fd needs help!

so yesterday my fd just stopped running right.
at idle it runs on 1 rotor but after 2500 rpm it sounds healthy on 2? i checked the plugs and the primarys are alittle black but not enough to do that. could it be a coil? maybe hks twin power? it seems like an ignition problem... any thoughts? diagnostics i can run? its a single turbo with all emissions deleted and pfc. ran perfect yesterday

Engines with a partially broken apex seal tend to make sufficient dynamic compression at higher rpms to run ok.

Check your coils, plugs, primary injector. A rudimentary compression test wouldn't be a bad idea either.

ok so... i didnt have a compression tester for rotorys so i used a regular one holding the valve open.
the rear rotor had about 40 psi on every swoosh. the front rotor had less than 30 and on one swoosh pretty much nothing! .

is the rear rotor sound like its healthy?

maybe my o ring on the tool is bad or something.. but its a brand new snap on compression tester.. but with out the tool and the plug out the rear rotor sounds so much louder and perfect on every swoosh than the front one.

Sounds like a bad apex seal, and likely time for a rebuild

If the "wooshes" are uneven or one is silent where it should have noise is a good indicator you have a broken apex seal. You can just turn the motor over by hand to help cut any of the noise from the starter.

If you are really trying to figure this out, you need to make sure you know what is wrong before replacing other parts. IE, the coils. Unless you can diagnose them as the issue. Otherwise you may be creating more potential problems for yourself.
