Nice vid man. I subscribed to you because i always look forward to what you got going on for your car.

Car sounds good but like someone said, i was waiting for the "wshhh" sound between shifts.

And idk but in your 2nd vid, your speedo seemed to be accelerating slow. Were you not going WOT? I know you stated you werent but how much throttle were you giving?

From 60-110, thats how my speedo accelerates lol. Idk. Unless you need a tune for better results.

And i thought i heard your clutch slip a bit too but i might be wrong.

Do you have the ported shroud? I got a ported shroud a few weeks ago and I'd like to say I think it makes a difference.

It does make a difference...... it hurts boost response

I'm not sure I see the point to this thread btw.

94touringFD 08-14-10 10:40 PM

Being that I also replaced the leaky ass manifold at the same time, I now have better response then I did before. No luck though tuning today for the second time this summer. A coolant line started leaking. Only took about a half hour took fix and now I'm stuck waiting 2 more weeks to get back on the dyno.

rdahm 08-14-10 10:41 PM

There's never a point to my posts goodfellas. lol. I'm not trying to solve world problems. Just sharing videos. People ask if the WI makes noise. Can't hear it. Your fuel pump is louder haha

Yeah my full throttle part of my map isn't tuned. So I can't jump on it. I'm sure that gt35r would open up. And it isn't shrouded.

arghx 08-14-10 10:56 PM

Question: have you physically pressure tested for boost leaks? there is a questionable "whoosh" sound that i can hear, especially at 0:25 of video #2. It could be wind, it could be the water injection, or it could be a boost leak.

rdahm 08-14-10 11:27 PM

My mouth has been on or around my intercooler piping many times lol. The weirdest boost leak I had was around my primary injectors. Otherwise no leaks.

I had my windows and sunroof open. Aside from the second video I never boost the car with full throttle lol

You know you can pull the airbag light bulb out on the back of the cluster so its not constantly blinking right? Shit would drive me insane.

arghx 08-14-10 11:43 PM

As you wind the motor up top I can definitely tell you have stock ports just by the sound and the tach, like at 0:53 in video #2. Over 6500 the stock ports are running out of breath. Here's a vid I made a while back of me doing a 2nd gear pull at about 16psi, T67 turbo (admittedly larger than your GT35), BOV delete, large streetport:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA8GMf3C-OQ

About four seconds in the camera shakes and the exhaust has a little hiccup because the car hit some uneven pavement. If you actually pull the video up in Youtube and expand it out you can kind of see the tach better. At 6000rpm the motor is really coming alive. I take it up to about 8000rpm there according to the PFC.

My motor is the same way, though I'm stuck at 13.5psi...Damn boost controller.

It reminds me that there is nothing to protect me. lol. I'm gonna take that out. Totally forgot about it.

Arghx. TY. No wonder I shift at such a low RPM. My power band is down there haha. Your video isn't playing on my iPhone but I'll take a look at it asap. I want to compare the differences.

I'm enjoying seeing videos of different setups keep them coming.

When you do that you'll then get a series of equally-annoying loud beeps when you first start the car up. About 30 of them, maybe more.

Best thing to do is get a resistor to stop the blinking (we want the female one):

I don't understand!!! In the first video when you are revving the car and camera is pointing at the turbo/filter you can clearly her that not having a BOV is a problem. You are going to ruin your turbo over time. I just don't see the point of having no BOV.

1QWIK7 08-15-10 10:10 AM

In the other thread posted in this one, people have stated that the turbo spools faster without the bov.

I honestly cant see if thats a proven fact or just a theory. Are there any tests to support this claim??

rdahm 08-15-10 11:52 AM

I'm not advocating anything. I couldn't get my BOV welded before DGRRx so I hiked down there without one. It's become a scientific experiment now that I put on so many miles.

I don't feel any advantage to not having a BOV, honestly. I have the aluminum flange to weld mine on. Just got busy.

Why or how is he going to ruin his turbo over time?

Im assuming when you say 'spool faster' you mean response between shifts? Ever wonder why those who are running a BOV adjust it to its tightest setting before hitting the track...

you'll have to put the car on a dyno to be sure, but I'm betting 7000rpm is where the power is starting to fall off. my 1st and 2nd gear pull video was here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DR5pPwGOkk I've posted it before so you may have seen it. you can see the tach better.

rdahm 08-15-10 12:58 PM

Wow. Yeah. Clear difference. I'll clean up my map and see what happens.

Google "turbo compressor surge" there are lots of info on that, it's also one of the reasons why some people get "ported shroud" turbo compressors.

zammm 08-15-10 02:27 PM

I have stock ports with a precision 60-1...I stop making power at 7000 RPM..

And by the looks of how slow your car revs it looks like you have a stock flywheel maybe..I'm not sure..I've never had a stock one haha..

willjs7 08-17-10 12:22 PM

shit looks slow and busted

Enjoy lol

I think your aftermarket water temp gauge is toast.

rdahm 08-17-10 05:01 PM

yea good point force, i have to unplug it and reset it. I wired it through my wiring harness and when i disconnected it, it buried the needle.

Its a stock flywheel as well zamm
