engine removal question

I have remove the tranny and am ready to remove the engine and just wanted to check on removal procedures:

isolate motor from

cooling lines from filler neck, to engine after radiator, and the other smaller coolant line from engine.

remove the line on the drivers side of engine towards the firewall.

somehow rermove the banjo bolt on the power steering pump and the power steering line underneath.

starter is already removed

wiring harness on small fuse box is pretty much disconnected except the grounding wire on the block.

unbolt the engine mounts.

hook up picker and remove.

i do not have an engine stand to remove the accesories so I guess I can support the engine on 4x4s?

thanks

I would reccomend removing the power steering pump from the engine and leaving it in the car. Oil lines disconnected? Wiring harness disconnected from ECU and fed through the firewall? Vaccum line removed from MAP sensor? There are various other ground wires you need to look out for. Just remove it slowly and watch for wires that may still be connected.

a milk crate works good (rectangular one) for removing accesories, and a 5 gal bucket is good for disasembling the block.

also have to pull the wiring harness through the firewall from the ecu.

Personally, I prefer to leave the PS on the motor, but obviously leave the AC pump/lines in the car. Just unbolt the AC pump (4 bolts) from the AC/PS bracket. There is enough room to get the engine out past it if you let it fall down and to the side a bit.

Also remember to drain the coolant, oil, and tranny fluid first. All hoses from the water pump should be disconnected, as well as the water neck. Don't forget the heater hose on the drivers side that comes from the block. Remove the shifter from top of tranny. I leave the motor mounts on the motor, just take off the two 14mm nuts that connect them to the front subframe. I also leave the precat/DP in place as well.

Good luck.
