Exclamation engine problem ? NEED HELP ASAP

hello rotorheads
i hope i am not in trouble but i want to ask the people who are more experienced than me in the rx7/rotary engine subject

i took my car for a drive and when i came home i left it started for about 10minutes as i normally do but in a shorter period of time

when i went to switch off the car the temperatute was to the maximum
so i added coolant and start throwin water on my engine to become cold again.
and it did.
i started the car few minutes later the car works fine (i didnt take it for a drive yet)
but i am so worried about it

any reccomendations? what should i do to check if my engine got damaged ?
its such a new car to start visiting the mechanic

thanks
any help will be well appreciated

Con

so what was the cause for the over heating?

not enough coolant in the rad?

When the stock temp gauge moves its usually a very bad sign as its not linear.
did you see the temp on the stocker or a/m gauge.

Have you done any work on it to make it lose coolant. One thing you can check is if the over fill reservoir is cracked and check that hose below the air pump. Those can get you.I don't know if it is the best thing to be poring water on a hot engine though.

rule #1) NEVER DUMP WATER ON AN OVERHEATED ENGINE!... allow it to cool down on it's own. cooling it too rapidly can cause the aluminum components to warp.

ok now that i got that out of the way, heh.. check the water level of the engine, if it is full then you will need to do a test of the electric cooling fans. if everything checks out ok then i would suspect you have a stuck thermostat or a failed coolant seal.

Keep an eye out for smoke (out of the tail pipes), leaking coolant, etc..

You could get off lucky. The question now is:

1. why didn't it cool itself down? Fans, Coolant level, etc..
