The Engine Is Out!!!
The engine is out. 1 trip to the Canadian voting polls in my area (which were in a church WTF!) 1 40 of tequila a bunch of business calls and the enigne is out sitting on my garage floor. I wish i had pictures of the Ibook sitting on the intake manifold but i dont. from here on in documentation will be made i promise. I will start posting pictures of the car the engine everything.
This is the start of I blew my engine and never gave up post. I hope you follow me through the journey and please sweet god offer my your advice I know i will need it.

While the engine is out I have already removed all the AC components the air ducts inside the car sense i removed the heater aswell. I am about to pull the ABS sense the abs relay was removed about an hour after i picked the car up. and am considering removing my power steering.
Anyone know what kinda weight savings i will get from loosing the ABS and PS? I will end up weighing the car to rebalance the suspension when its all back togeather but i get curious I am sure you all know the feeling

i'd say that you might only loose about 40 lbs depending on how indepth you get with the removal of the ABS and if you go with a full manual rack opposed to keeping the PS rack and looping the lines to make it a manual

Im doing a write up of my engine pull as well... I still don't understand why people pull their ABS --- power steering I can understand, A/C if your in a cool climate I can understand but the ABS unit's bonuses heavily out weigh the negatives of what... 5 pounds and a slightly more cluttered engine bay?
ABS will not allow you to lock up all four wheels when you are in an out of control spin. If you start loosing it and lock them up, the car will continue in a straight line. With ABS, Say you spin and now your *** end is doing 85 miles per hour in your direction of travel, are you good enough to drive out of it? Or, would you rather skid to a stop, while still on the roadway?

I pulled the abs relay when i got the car cause i didnt like the way it felt. and now I want to set up a more proper brake bias for the way I drive when i am on the street then adjust when i get to the track ect. I am more worried about the power steering to be honest.
But the biggest problem right now is finding time to get out and work on the car lol. the extra work hours are great for the cash but crap for the rebuild. Next time I get to work on it I promise to take pictures and then soon after discover how to link them to the thread

Pictures finally. Hey I know it took me along time to get around to posting pictures and during the rip down process of the car I am only posting the really good ones taken. the ones posted today were actually chosen out of 107 my friend took.
So far in the remove all we have discovered mazda service manuals are pretty useless. and for a 16 year old car she is in excellent shape.
I NEED TO STRESS! WE DO NOT SUPPORT DRINKING AND DRIVING! WE DO NOT RECOMMEND DRINKING AND WORKING EITHER. yes i know the shop has a wine fridge in it. yes this occationally resorts to a beer while working but please in your own shop be careful know your limit and try not to drop a ton of metal on to yourself it will suck.
it has become perfectly obvious that what had started as a fix the blown coolant seal job is now a complete rebuild of the car top to bottom.
We have just begun work and are trying to give you an idea of where we are in the build our working area and enviroment.

thanks its a sweet set up right now. not insulated so come winter it might suck a little but still a great place to work. my friend move a bike he is rebuilding in and decided that we needed a tv and a couch aswell lol.
And if your in in spin, by definition your out of control. NOT having ABS and being able to lock up all four wheels isn't going to save you. And you might not have been in the spin in the first place if you had it.

Lol yes i usually keep my pants on. my fienace wont let me bring my dirty work cloths in the house anymore. I threw a pair of jeans and tshirt in with a load of wash i was doing and wrecked everything so i have to strip in the garage and then she makes a point of doing a special load of just my crap once a week.
Yeah I am planning on ditching the air pump and blocking the acv. I figure its extra weight I am pulling the ABS and the PS they have to be more usefull then the air pump lol.
I am hoping to post some more pics in the next day or two but at the moment I am having a little trouble getting the flywheel bolt off. I bought the mazdatrix flywheel remover and used a big bloody peice of angle iron to form a flywheel stopper. I think i need someone to stand on the stopper while i try and get it off cause the engine keeps moving.

Any one know where I can find a break down of every wire in the wiring harness where they go what they do?
So far i have been removing something (lets say res for wiper fluid) then cutting the wire traking it back to the plug cutting it off there. (terminating properly ofcourse) Is there an easier way to go about this?

If you need the wires specific color and where they route get download the FSM. I attached a view of the connectors and what each do if that somewhat helps. You'll likely need to use the FSM and it's too valuable for anything else you'll ask in the future so get it now!
im an idiot i have edited this cause i asked what FSM was. factory service manual. thanks for the help
I am leafing through the fsm now. I am not sure its going to give me exactly what i want but it will be as close as i can get i guess.
