one more thing .. when ma fd came from japan and i dint know how to use it.. hated it.. i was on the edge of taking it out and throwing it till i paid a guy $100 to translate the manual for me
and man since that day my fd drove like .. i have no words lol
its not only a boost controller .. it has so much other than just boost like
u even have an option to make the boost sluggish ,,, or sharp
there is a small knob for fine adjustment
9 psi is the most i have gone on it .. and it feels fast next year i am planning to go 11psi with pfc as a back up
there are some other gud things about it.. cant remember rite now

They're really all the same. I was bored and started sketching a chart comparing all the major boost controllers. They all have a base duty signal setting, a wastegate opening pressure setting, and usually some kind of gain setting. The major exceptions are the ones that use knobs instead of numerical settings--they work the same basic way but they are just simpler with less adjustability. The stepper motor based controllers are slightly different too but not that much.

Most people's claims of one controller being better than the other come down to personal preference or just how well the user comprehended the instructions of a particular unit. The turbosmart, the Greddy Profec Spec II, and the HKS EVC-S work the exact same way they just call the settings different names. Get whichever one you like. You can make them all work, although the AVC-R is the most adjustable and most complicated of the lot.

Sorry for reviving this old thread, but i figured its best placed in this existing thread .

I have a power FC and run a my twins in sequential setup , i have the new greddy profec oled boost controller which is currently not yet installed . Currently my second turbo only boosts 7 PSI only with the pill inserted , i have narrowed the problem down and my suspicion is that its the Wastegate solenoid .

Here my questions :

Option 1 : Can i just use the the solenoid from my Profec and use it to replace the stock solenoid , therefore keeping the Power FC as "Boost controller ?

Option 2 : Install the Profec to just control the Wastegate and leave the system sequential ( Power FC controls PC solenoid ) and Profec the Wastegate
==> question , in the Power FC the primary boost is usually set 0.1 kg/cm2 higher than the secondary . If i keep this seting eg 0.8 for primay in Power FC and 0.7 for the Profec would the profec then not open the Wastegate when the first turbo reaches 0.7

Any clarification would be apprechiated

Fix the problem with your car. The PFC can control the boost on stock sequential twins.

I know that the power fc can control the stock twins . My question was if my wastegate solenoid is stuffed , can I use the the profec solenoid instead ?

I know you don't want a used one but in case anyone else does I have a an original profec spec s in good shape that works fine for twins 150 shipped

I also have a blitz dual sbc which also works well with twins 250 shipped

Personally I prefer using two ball and spring type manual controllers.

Not nearly as well as a good controller

Never mind , tested my solenoids and they are good , but the diaphram in my actuator is broken :( so need to install a new actuator to solve my problem
