Very NICE!!! man, you are the man when it comes to electrical stuff.. I remember you with that switch you put in.. So, when do you expect all to be done?? Looks good so far!!
|
I guess thats the new wireharness you made?

Thanks PHIL! I guess it's an occupational hazard So, when do you expect all to be done?? Looks good so far!! |

That is true, maybe if a time came that I had to do it myself, I would be able to do it...
|
Time is a must...I'm no genius (<---if that is even spelled right, haha)

just seeing who is sleeping in class ;)

Have you tested the harness? It would suck if you put it all back together and you made a mistake somewhere.

nice job, have you played with the e6x much?

Not yet, but I plan to tomorrow. I've read thru the manual many many times in it's entirety. I'm excited about what it's capable of! |
I officially bow to you Dubs! Absolutely SUPER job on the harness. You actualized what I'd been swishing around in this ugly thing I call a brain.
Aren't all those pins fun? Ho hum, 4 rotor FD <yawn>... Don't you know the 3 rotor cosmo is the shiznit? I'm gonna put THREE of them in MY FD (when I.. ummm.. get out of high school and stuff...) Donning flamesuit over here! Again, really nice job, and then some!! |
So you have 3 26b motor sitting there, how much did it cost you to build those?
And jesus thats gonna be sweet when you get it all done |
question:
Could that wiring harness be manipulated to be used with the PFC? Is that the wiring harness that comes with the Haltech? Part numbers on the connector from the engine side of the harness to the ECU side? |

I turned the wires into that harness. (3) see attach. |

They are not mine, BTW. Just thought I'd throw in some eyecandy. (1) Yes, you'd have to cut all the wires and make the connector (2) I wouldn't say a "harness" comes with the Haltech, it's a bunch of wires connected to the ECU plug. I turned the wires into that harness. (3) see attach. |
^ cool, I remember reading your thread.
I used the 37 pin connector, strictly for "room to grow". I simplified the harness as much as possible running it thru the connector...I'll go from memory 1 - 12V source 1 - GND 1 - 5V source 1 - AIT 1 - Coolant 4 - Injectors 4 - CAS 1 - O2 1 - sheild termination (for CAS & O2) 1 - ISC so, it's really not that many wires that "need" to pass thru. (probably missing one or two?!?!) I didn't pass any of the tranny or ignition thru...they stay in the car when engine is removed. I didn't pass any ECU or Fuel Pump PWR wires thru...all that is in the cabin. |
awesome man, care to share any of your diagrams? especially when wiring in the dash gauges and stuff?
|
are those aircraft grade plugs i see?

Yes, please tell, where'd you get the quick-disconnects? The E6X doesn't control the OMP, correct? What are you doing to get around that, premix? I remember a thread a while back about trying to reverse-engineer the oil injecting system, was that you also? -s- |

which gauges are you talking about...the only one I forgot about was the coolant temp sender, which I believe is on the X-14 connector (Y/W???) I assumed it was on the starter harness...wrong <--last time I assume

But yes, the design is from the aerospace industry. |

No, that wasn't me reverse engineering the OMP. I wouldn't put these on an aircraft :D But yes, the design is from the aerospace industry. |
speedo wire, tranny harness...separate
tach wire...I believe it's pulled from the ign, eh? starter harness also... water temp...already mentioned oil pressure wire, starter harness...separate the connector I made was for engine sensors to the ECU only. So I can pull the engine and not have to pull apart the interior and feed the harness thru the firewall <--not that, that was hard. I need a better hobby. On a side note, I was working with my fuel system the other day...and to have full run at it, I disconnected the plug and sensors and removed the electrical system off the block, voila. On a side note from the side note...I like the 'similar threads' this thread pulls, Time Travel! funny, I referenced Doctor Emit Brown earlier...I'm an idiot. |

I have a simplified haltech harness as well, but have my tranny connects wrapped up with it all. I want to re-wrap it all soon - that's why I ask. |
I guess the answer is...if the tranny harness went throught the QD...I'd have to unplug the (4) sensors on the tranny to demate.
I'll take a pic of the harness routes. The tranny and ignition harnesses say in the car when the engine comes out, like the starter harness. |

So you have your tranny wiring routed along the firewall then? I used to always pull my tranny when I pulled my engine; I guess that's why it worked conveniently for me. I pull my engine sererately now, so it's just 4 more things to unplug. Question answered, thanks. |

not the one I work on.

been a while but figured I'd post, the harness routes...the harnesses in the yellow p-clamp are the tranny (X-14 and X-05), and ignition harnesses.

Dubulup,
Looks good!! |
Still Not Totally Finished

Thanks PHIL! Here a more recent photo with my "dropped too many times" camera
Work in progress...does anyone own an FD they consider finished??? (downpipe is getting ceramic coated satin black as you read!) |
I was thinking about going black on the engine also. I think yours is the first I have seen like that. I am still on the fence - you like it? Seems like it would be very easy to keep clean (looking anyway).
Oh and nice job on the harness. |

I'm lovin' the black! Has a very nice contrast to my SSM FD and extremely unique! People definitely don't expect it when I pop the hood. Powdercoated parts are extremely easy to wipe clean. IMO, black looks way better than dirty corroded bare aluminum. Also, if I had polished parts, I'd really be anal about pulling my car apart or people putting their shit-sticks in my engine bay, "what's that". If something got scratched, I'm anal enough to pull it and re-polish it. <---too much work.
Thanks for the props on the harness. |
finally, someone decides to do something other than polished engine parts, keep everything dark, flying under the radar, looking stock. If someone who knows nothing about RX-7's looks under your hood, it'll look stock to them, rather than all shiney and aftermarket. congrats on a kick ass lookin setup, on the clean engine harness, and being different

Thanks bro! I appreciate that! It's funny you say that (above), because when I was building her, the goal was make it look like it belongs there! *I posted these on another forum, but I'll post again... |

coming from someone that has a thousand hours of labor into their car I'll say that I'm very impressed.
not sure that makes sense to anyone else I'd also remove the 2 brackets for pulling the engine once you get it in there |
