I found an excellent set of extremely low mileage turbos that I am going with at this time.
In the long run I've decided that if I ever tire of the automatic tranny, I will simply sell the car and buy a 5 speed version. I have SO much fun (read: nearly get into big trouble every time I drive my FD!) in this automatic car that I seriously think that with a manual car with a few more mods that inclination to just be friggin' crazy would be nearly irresistable! ;)
In the final analysis one really can or should only go so far with an automatic car. I am perfectly content (at this time) with that. My new engine is going to be awesome and a HUGE increase in power over my stock one (that was no slouch!). I plan on just enjoying this for a while and seeing how much fun I can have.

Why don't you just buy mine and be done? FYI those "gently used, only 25K JDM turbos" in that ad are probably ready for the trash. There is no "gently used" around these parts unless you find an original owner car.

My car is DD and hits 14lbs of boost on occasions when I play around. The spooling advantage on 99' is so slight you would hardly notice the difference looks great in print that about it. They start building boost about 300rpms sooner. Actual spooling time from 0-10 at about 3000rpm is about a second in 4th. My busted stockers with 88K on them were about the same. If you plan on staying sequential and under 12lbs most of the time the 99' are the way to go. As with most things in this forum it's how you use the car. I personally wouldn't trust a used set of turbos any further than I could throw them that just my comfort level.

Most turbos produce very linear power at low boost. At 10psi youd see very little difference in power and a slower spool.
