Ebay Carbing Cooling Plate...Quality?
 

I was wondering if anyone here had ever purchased one of these cooling plates from ebay. If so how is the quality, fitment and look? Anyone had experience with other cooling plates from other manufacturers? If so where do you order them?

It probably looks pretty blinging but I doubt it actually helps cooling.

I am sort of more interested in how it looks and fits. Anyone?

I haven't seen anyone use the eBay one. However, in general, those are only helpful if you have a FMIC which has uprighted the radiator.

If you have a good aftermarket bumper that the center vent is set to direct air into the radiator... your fine. The carbing does look much nicer then the stock plastic one.

we need a test dummy.. some one buy it and give it, ill sacrifice my cars safety and try it out

never mind i didnt see that it was a $100 piece of sheet metal lol ill make one and sell it for 50

carbing is high quality stuff. its not a ebay brand.

Yeah but sadly it looks nothing like the one in the picture.

I got the same exact plate from Signal Auto. Mine fits perfectly and I saw a small difference in temps on the highway as per my PFC Commander.

Sweet it'll still fit my 96 rx7...

I used a Carbon Fiber one for my 240,

and it actually worked really well!..

I found that my engine temp was about 3-5 mm under where it usually sat.

it was nice looking too!!!

I'm not sure if i understand what "3-5 mm" is in temperature? also, the 240 has an upright radiator, unlike our cars.

Anyone have pics of the real Carbing one? The ebay picture is BS.

I ran something similar I made myself with Fourtyounce years ago. It works very well if the radiator is sealed to it properly and is essential if you want to road race with a front mount.

I used aluminum insulating tape from Home Depot.

Doesn't look as good as the plate, but undoubtedly seals better.

Though I have contemplated putting a plate there for aesthetic purposes.

Carbing isnt some ebay brand, the guy just happens to be selling a carbing product on ebay

They manufacture some really nice stuff such as these plates, strut bars, subframes etc etc, great quality perfect fit. There pretty big in the subaru scene.

I have there plate and strut bar on my sti, the strut bar even has a built in brake master cylinder brace

So this thing will fit with people running FMIC's?

I would assume the piping would be in the way.

It depends on the FMIC. However, this is only an aid for FMIC users. There is no benefit if your radiator is in the stock location. For people with FMIC's, they have to make the radiator upright. This causes the top of the top of the radiator to be open to the car where air can escape around it. This plate covers the top of the radiator stopping flow over the top to help force air through the radiator.

Honestly, i considered this a while back just for cosmetic purposes. If i can get a 5, 10, 15 whatever degree drop in the process, thats great but i soley want this to make the engine bay look a bit nicer.

My only concern is will this fit with the FMIC piping? I assumed it has to be cut around it? I seen some engine bays with these plates and its altered to fit the FMIC piping that car has.

Most likely, it's shipped without any cuts made to it. You'll have to cut/alter it to fit your pipes.
