Dynoed my car at TPS today. 300 Whp,stock turbos, untuned.

Well I figured what the hell, my car is running untuned @ 11psi...anything past 12 psi and i get ignition breakup, Forgot to say, the A/F ratios are screwed up in the run, and it also doesnt show the torque, the torque is 255ft/lbs. BTW PFC SUCKS ASS at controlling boost...

Heres my mod list: Stock turbos, SS downpipe, stock midpipe, apexi n1 catback, pwr radiator, custom front mount, 850 cc primaries , stock secondaries, street port, ASI racing pulleys, hard pipe intakes, cosmo fuel pump.. think thats it.

I also have video if anyone wants to host it, of me and my friends t70 supra....

those air fuel ratios are dangerously off

do NOT drive your car like that

ghostrx7 12-30-03 06:16 PM

Sorry i forgot to say the A/F readings were INCORRECT for the runs, sorry;p Trust me when i say incorrect i mean as in black smoke blowing out of my car thanks to being overly rich.

93BlackFD 12-30-03 06:17 PM

so that's how you determine that they were incorrect? you should be running rich with your fuel setup, but there could also be a failure...

ghostrx7 12-30-03 06:20 PM

It was incorrect, the guy at TPS has difficulty with gettin good A/F readings on rx7s, mine also has a stock midpipe that was gutted so that may have been another reason. duty cycle on PFC read a MAX of 73-75%....

patriick 12-30-03 07:43 PM

Nice numbers, especially with a stock cat. I hope you're right about those AFRs being wrong!!

Was the 11psi reading from a boost gauge or PFC commander?

Why'd they stop at 6700RPM? (redline=7500-8000)

ttb 12-30-03 08:49 PM

no, he has midpipe

adam c 12-30-03 08:58 PM

There is no such thing as a stock midpipe.

sure there is. . . the stock exhaust is made up of 3 sections. . . front/precat, mid/cat, rear/c-back. . . imagination works wonders. . . dont be so picky. ;)

Snook 12-30-03 10:22 PM

just because the duty cycle didnt go high doesnt mean you arent running lean

it could be 50% because you have huge injectors but you could still be running lean

Id lower the boost for now

ghostrx7 12-30-03 10:32 PM

Trust me the A/F were incorrect, my car doesnt run lean, its a very conservative base map, and I am only running 11 psi. Thanks for comments, oh sorry I meant " stock midsection"

SaiyanJin93 12-30-03 10:40 PM

ghost, those your brother own a blue pr5 turbo? and also is that your car on chad's(ASI RACING) site?

The mid section, if stock is a catalytic converter. I still don't know what this guy has. Using my imagination won't tell me either.

Partick: Sorry I didnt answer you sooner, he stopped early because he wasnt sure where I wanted him to shift, I should have specified...although stock turbos die off after that high of rpm anyhow. The third run I did tell him to take it to 7800 rpm but that dyno was only for 291.. And the boost reading was from the boost gauge, PFC boost readings suck ass.

The stock midsection( catalytic converter for those that are anal) has been hollowed out, im not sure on the quality of the job as i did not do it myself. Im installing a true midpipe tommorow so we will see what that does. Yes my brother owns the blue turbo protege 5, ASI racing does have my car under the site under JTs name since he was the previous owner, Chad from ASI is doin my brothers tranny swap along with the upgraded chromoly axles. Hes hoping for around 280 whp after he gets his intercooler setup on along with the tranny@12psi. Hes running a t4/t3 ,the t3 backhousing helps spool. I wonder why more turbo 4cylinders dont use this setup as it spools nicely and still has great top end.

Shift? In what gear were the runs made? 4th right?

Be sure to post your results with the midpipe, I'm interested to know :)

BoostCrzy 12-31-03 01:41 PM

ok..im gonna try to iron some of this out...lol......the car has a stock main cat which has been "gutted", but i believe the job was not well done.....its more"blown out" than gutted....so i feel the wideband was not aquiring accurate data because of this....the car is running at .8 bar as indicatd by the PFC and shows 11psi on the autometer gauge....the rpm on the dyno sheets is also not accurate due to issues aquiring a consistant tach signal.....but the car was run up to 8000 rpm as indicated on the stock tach, in 4th gear...the base maps being used for fuel are quite conservative considering that they were written for a 3in. midpipe as well as all the other current mods....but the sputter didnt exist until after adding the 850 primaries.....(sputter is also non-existant under 12psi of boost..)

SilvioRX7 12-31-03 03:06 PM

TPS's dyno sucks ass. I'd take it to Petit or Thunder.

ghostrx7 12-31-03 03:13 PM

Id have to sell a kidney just to afford a few baseline runs at pettit. I dont even know where thunder is.

Thunder Autosports is in Boynton. If you take I-95 to Boynton Beach Blvd and go west, at the 1st light you make a right, then an immediate right and follow the road around like a 1/4 mi and they are on the left.

cheaper than a new motor. its pay to play

ghostrx7 12-31-03 03:49 PM

I cant justify spending over 100 dollars to do 3 pulls with a wideband(pettit)...thanks silvio, ill check it out.

ghostrx7 12-31-03 04:39 PM

LOL just noticed your avatar rx7addict,...nice...

Thanks for clarifying that. So I'm a little anal. That's not a bad thing.

Anyone else think I'm anal. Here's my picture ( )*( ) :)

Not always a bad thing... Your FD is probably super clean and in tip-top shape :)
