door panel problem

you all know how air tight these cars are, and how you have to slam the drivers door to get it to close completely. My problem is that the door panel will not stay fixed to the door at the bottom. There are two or three plastic clips that I can pop in, but the minute I close the door, the bottom pops out about 1/2 inch again.
Any suggestions?
thanks

Jason

Hmm... I'd try new clips first.. Do they pop out of the panel or the door?

there are about 3 long screws that bolt the panel to the door. make sure they are secure. Otherwise get new clips=done.

everything else is tight, the clips stay in the panel, just pop out of the door

Take it off and make sure all of the fasteners inside line up correctly and aren't bent.

This is my bulletproof door reassembly procedure:

Pop out the plastic collars in the door panel at each of the 3 peripheral screws locations. Also pull out the pocket at the handle. Take the pop-in white snaps and make sure they're straight and snapped into the door trim correctly. Keep them there with hot glue if that helps. Check the 3 sliding clips at the screw locations and make sure they're not bent or messed up.

Then, hang the door and pop in the snaps. Everything should go in well. Next use a philips screwdriver to reach into each screw location and line up the clip to the screw hole. Then carefully insert the collars all the way, and put in the screw. Last, pop in the handle liner (pushing straight down) and put in that screw.

Why do you need to slam the driver's door to get it to close completely? I don't believe this should be the case. Do you have some miss-allignment, has your car been in an accident, or do the hinges or latches need to be lubed? This obviously won't fix the other problem you mentioned, but I believe you should correct this as well.

The cabin is very well sealed, on all third gens. My last one was the same. My current car hasn't been in a wreck and has been babied since purchase. Your car's door closes easily?

An un-bent 93 here, and closing those doors can be a PITA sometimes. Kinda fun to see the sunroof pop up a little when I close the door.
